NMPreps Week 4 Team Rankings: Key Movements, Trends, and Surprises
As we enter Week 4 of the 2024 New Mexico high school football season, the latest NMPreps rankings showcase significant movement among teams across the state. With results from Week 3 shaking up the standings, several teams made impressive leaps, while others saw their rankings slip after tough losses. Here's a closer look at the trends and the teams that made the biggest impact this past week.
Volcano Vista jumps up one spot to No. 4, swapping places with Rio Rancho after a convincing 28-6 win over Sandia. Rounding out the top five is Las Cruces, who also climbed one spot to No. 5 following a big 34-21 victory over Rio Rancho.
In the lower classifications, Pojoaque Valley (3A) inched up from No. 55 to No. 51, thanks to their nail-biting 14-13 win over Los Alamos. Meanwhile, McCurdy made a small but meaningful leap from No. 76 to No. 73 with their 50-42 win over Tucumcari.
Santa Teresa had a challenging week as well, dropping from No. 40 to No. 66 after a surprising 26-7 loss to Chaparral. The season is still young, but their district schedule is brutal.
Among the smaller schools, Bloomfield (4A) is proving their worth, rising to No. 14 after a 55-0 demolition of Miyamura. Bernalillo also maintains its undefeated streak, moving up two spots to No. 27 after a comfortable 3-0 start.
