2015-2016 Preview

We will start at the top of our rankings and look at the reigning 6A State Champions in the Cibola Cougars. The Cougars are led by one of the top head coaches in New Mexico basketball, men's or women's and this could be one her most talented teams yet.

Amaya Brown (Sophomore), who will be one of the highest recruited prospects in the state of New Mexico returns for her sophomore season and will be looking to add more hardware. Brown, teams up with division commit (UNLV), Kavionna Brown (Junior) a point guard who is considered one of the best PG's in the state. This duo is just the tip of the iceberg though as we could list the top seven players.

Volcano Vista High School, district foe to Cibola, enters the season at No. 2 on our countdown. The Lady Hawks have one of their own head coaches who is regarded as one of the best in the state. The Lady Hawks return Raven Herrera (2016) and Deezha Battle (2016), two seniors who could be on the upset minds of CIbola.

At, number three we have the Las Cruces Lady Bulldawgs who will return one of the top rosters in the state. Jayden Perez (2018) is one of the top rising prospects in the state of New Mexico. Active on the AAU side, Perez returns as a District 3-6A Player of the Year, All-State player with a 15 points per game average. In the opening game of week one Perez went off for 27-points and 12 rebounds in a win over EP Americas (TX).

Rounding out the top-5 is Mayfield, led by Kendra Butler (2016) and Jayce Gorzseman (2017), as the No. 4 spot in the state. The fifth team in the state is the Valley Vikings who return a wealth of talent in Brianna Roybal (2016), Shanea Shamburger (2016) and Alicia Chavez (2016). The Valley Vikings will have experience returning from a state tournament team.
