Week two of the New Mexico High School Football Season was just as exciting as week one with several games going down to the wire. As you know, each Monday we release our updated Statewide NMPreps.com Fab 50 Rankings, but today we quickly update how the Top 25 fared on Friday Night. Week 2 High School Football Scores Here

How The Top 25 Fared

1. Rio Rancho - The No. 1 ranked Rams rolled past one of the best teams from El Paso, Texas tonight beating Americas 31-7. We hear Rams running back Josh Foley returned an interception 100-yards for a touchdown and did not play in the 2nd half. Rio Rancho is at Clovis next weekend in a marquee 6A match up.

2. Cleveland - The Storm who have now won 15 games in a row, got quite the scare on Friday Night by the La Cueva Bears. The Bears were down 38-31, scored in the final minutes, went for two and failed to make the final 38-37 Storm. Cleveland will take on 2-0 Las Cruces next weekend, the two teams have never met.

3. Las Cruces - The Bulldawgs moved to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 under first year Head Coach Mark Lopez beating Cibola 21-0 in a game that was cut short due to lightning. Sophomore Ivan Molina caught for over 140-yards and a touchdown, Junior Quarterback Payton Ball threw for 240-yards and scored 3 touchdowns. Las Cruces is at Cleveland next weekend.

4. Mayfield - The Trojans bounced back from their week one loss to Rio Rancho defeating a very good El Paso Del Valle team 23-21. The Trojans stopped a fake field goal to win the game in the final minutes. Mayfield Junior Quarterback Torry Rocklin who has an offer form New Mexico State threw a 75-yard touchdown to New Mexico State Commit Gavin Swinson on the night. Kent State Commit and Mayfield Standout Running Back Isaac Vance did not play. Mayfield will take on Eldorado next.

5. Artesia - The Artesia Bulldogs now 2-0 on the season rolled up 56 points against the Hobbs Eagles, during the Eagle’s homing game. Junior Bulldog Quarterback Taylor Null threw 3 touchdown passes, one to Kameron Aguilar for 90-yards. Bulldog Running Back Isaiah Wedieman scored ran for over 100-yards and scored 3 touchdowns. The Bulldogs now 2-0 will take on the Valencia Jaguars in week 3.

6. Eldorado - The Golden Eagles moved to 1-1 on the season after defeating the Volcano Vista Hawks Friday Night 45-24. In the last two games Eldorado has scored a total of 90 points, which is you guessed it a 45.0 average. The Eagles will take on Mayfield in week 3.

7. Clovis - The Wildcats ran right through another old district foe Friday Night handing the Carlsbad Cavemen their second loss of the season running 34-14. Clovis Running Back Micah Gray who scored 6 touchdowns last week against Hobbs scored on a 23-yard touchdown run in the 2nd quarter and then would bust off a 72-yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter to make it 20-14 Clovis. Gray would then score off a 43-yard touchdown run to make it 27-14 Wildcats, Junior Wildcat Seth Lopez then put the game out of reach with a 29-yard touchdown run in the 4th quarter. Clovis will host No. 1 ranked Rio Rancho next weekend.

8. Onate - Preview: The outcomes, growing trend for previews between 25-35, was as expected. Onate was picked by several to upset but most new that Cleveland would eventually win. Atrisco was deemed to high this spring in the Top-25 and that much proved we were wrong. They were dominated in their opener. This one has the potential to be over early as the Jaguars struggled offensively while Onate brings plenty of punch to their D. We won't forget that Atrisco could find issues with running back Josiah Fielder as well, who can use this as the breakout game.

No. 9 Centennial (1-0) vs No. 10 Manzano (1-0)
Game Info: Saturday. 1pm (Stadium)
Preview: Saturday game to be at is this one. The homecoming, the mentor, the friendship. Centennial the biggest buy (not real money) for a state title sleeper. Manzano just looking to earn the respect. Head coach Aaron Ocampo, the former Manzano head coach who led the Monarchs to the final game brings his Centennial Hawks to town and looking to make friends at the big kids table. I do like the showing Michael Roybal had in his first varsity game, however is Jordan Byrd healthy? Can the Manzano defense stop the continued attack by a Centennial team that has more weapons than the local Cabelas. Dante Lopez and Jr Pena are only making their case to be taken serious this season, 9 is too high.

Outside of the Top 10

No. 14 Sandia - The Matadors rolled past another opponent, this time beating Valley 41-13. In their first two games of the season, the Matadors have outscored the comp 9-13. Sandra will get their first test of the season when they travel to Onate next week.

No. 16 Piedra Vista - Losing Texas Tech Commit Dylan Weaver to an ACL injury was a big blow for the Panthers, but this team showed resiliency Friday Night on the road against Goddard gutting out a 31-28 thrilling victory to move to 2-0 on the year. The Panthers will take on their regional rival Durango in week 3.

No. 17 Los Lunas 35, No. 13 Alamogordo 28 - The game was called with 11:00 minutes remaining in the 4th quarter due to lightning. On the night Los Lunas was led by Sophomore Quarterback Nicholas Gaerlan who threw for 124-yards and w touchdowns and by O’maury Samuels who ran for 73-yards and a touchdown. For Alamogordo the Tigers were led by Kyle Hooper who threw for 146-yards and 3 touchdowns and Alex Ramirez who caught for 3 touchdowns. Los Lunas now 2-0 takes on Del Norte in week 3, Alamogordo will take on Valley.
