Friday Preview

Rivalries abound tonight with a number of them having that top district position up for grabs.

Game of the Night - La Cueva at Eldorado - The last time these two teams met it was La Cueva stealing the win with a big 4th quarter. Both team undefeated so far in district play heading into this first place game.

Bounce Back? - Cibola at Rio Rancho - Cibola lost a stunner in overtime to rival Volcano Vista Thursday night and will look to retake first place in district with a win at Rio Rancho. Since starting 2-6, the Lady Rams have gone 8-3 including 6-3 in January alone. Rio Rancho only lost by 4 last time they met. Could this be the statement win the Lady Rams are looking for?

Back In The Game - Volcano Vista at Piedra Vista - Just one night after a big win against rival Cibola, the Lady Hawks will hit the road north to take on a Piedra Vista team looking to get their first win against a 6A team.

Battle for Roswell - Goddard at Roswell - Roswell has cemented their position as the top team in 5A but a red-hot Goddard team is not far behind. The last time they met in the Goddard tournament, Roswell won by 10 points. Both teams will enter this game on 6-game winning streaks.

Queens of the North - Bloomfield at Kirtland Central - Up in District 1-5A, the first showdown for first place will take place at Bronco Arena. KC comes in winning 4-straight including 3 straight in district play. After their back-to-back losses in Albuquerque, the Lady Bobcats have found ways to win in a shaky district start.

Other Friday Night Matchups

Belen at St. Pius X - A win for Belen puts them 2nd in district.

Hobbs at Centennial - Centennial has won two straight and looking to upset a dynamic Hobbs team.

Carlsbad at Mayfield - Carlsbad starts up the second half of district play on the road against a Mayfield team looking to recover from a bad loss at Las Cruces.

Gallup at Aztec - Gallup had to reschedule their game against Bloomfield so they're coming in well-rested. Aztec is looking to find any way to win after a bad loss against Farmington.

Artesia at Lovington - Lovington is on the outside looking in as far as state projections go. A win at home against a fair Artesia team would help propel them into the 5A tournament field.
