POLL: Cleveland vs. Hobbs - Who You Got

Heard that there was more Hobbs fan's then Rio Rancho and Cleveland fan's. Trust me when I say, a lot more Hobbs fan's will be there on Saturday!

Cleveland and RR had light turnouts for sure. PARCC testing and spring sports should not be scheduled during state tourney week. Whatever happened to spring break being scheduled during state tourney week? There will be a better crowd Saturday. Cleveland will have their hands full but they match up better with Hobbs than RR did. Nelson from Hobbs is a stud. I had not seen them play but they are really impressive. FEWDU...Go Storm!

You are absolutely correct! There will be a lot more Eagle fans there Saturday!!!!!

Regarding the fan support, Yes...Cleveland and Rio Rancho could bring bigger numbers BUT...when you have to get spread out at the Pit because Gallup And Espanola fans camp out on the only side of the stadium that doesn't cost you an arm & a leg to sit there, it makes it seem like Cleveland has no fans. Last night, Gallup had the game before Cleveland and Espanola had the game right after Cleveland and hardly anybody got up to leave for Gallup. The least they could have done is move to a different section and let the fans for their game playing a chance to sit together and form a fan section! Maybe going back to the old way of clearing out the Pit for each session might help cure the problem....Just saying.

Hobbs had a nice showing of students and fans in general bit it wasn't impressive. Least amount of Hobbs fans I've seen ever at the state tourney. I hope more fans show up un Saturday or the Pit will be empty. I have family coming up tonight from Hobbs for the game tomorrow.

Espanola and Gallup shoe you what support is supposed to be like. They bring it. The 6a schools not all.

Hobbs should win. I still dont see how Carlsbad even kept up with them or even beat Hobbs. Maybe I'm to harsh on Carlsbad and they just played a BA game against Albuquerque High.

Agree that Espanola had an impressive showing as usual but it did not seem as large in years past when Espanola fans occupied both student sections. And it was the most subdued I have ever seen Espanola fans as well, although it had to do with Centennial pretty much ending the game within the first couple of minutes.

I didn't think the Hobbs fan numbers or showing was all that impressive. Maybe I thought they would bring more people now that the time of their game was a bit more reasonable for their tastes. Many of their fans were comprised of the Raskervitch band.

Rio Rancho will show up to support Cleveland. It won't be anything like a Gallup or Espanola crowd but it will be solid.

I would not discount Cleveland's chances vs Hobbs. Marcus Williams is a tough matchup for anyone and Ryan Jones should be able to get loose on the press. Rio would have had a much better showing had Brady been able to play. Henry Hattis and Cook will need to play well again. Former Hobbs Eagle Wallace Williams and Storm Asst Coach might be the only guy from Hobbs pulling for Cleveland.

I think Carlsbad was really good. They just had an off game vs the Bulldogs and AHS played a really smart good game. Upsets happen.

Keep in mind how far Hobbs is from ABQ. Definitely not an easy trip during the middle of the week. For Hobbs to have a decent section at all up there is pretty good but now that it's Friday I know a lot of people myself included are heading to ABQ for the game. Hope to see yall there!

There will be a lot more Hobbs fans at the game tomorrow than last night. Nearly everyone I've talked to is planning on going. That 5 hour drive is a killer when you have to work. Its a lot easier to pack the place when you only have a 1.5 hour or 2 hour trip like Espanola and Gallup.

I for one am thinking Cleveland can make it very interesting and can definitely win this game. I think Hobbs is the better team, but after Hobbs playing so well last night, I'm afraid they could have a let down and cool way off from the field.

I agree that Hobbs played well last night, but it was too bad for RR that Brady never got into the flow. His 46 vs Cleveland earlier this year was the most impressive performance I had seen this season.

I did not think RR played nearly as well vs Hobbs as the three times they played Cleveland. Cleveland would roll them by 20+ too if Patterson is taken out of the mix.

Hobbs transition offense is very good. Not sure that they have the overall top to bottom athleticism that past Hobbs teams have displayed but they get the job done. The big man is my main concern as a Storm fan.

Cleveland will not be an easy out as long as their key guys (Jones, Williams, & Maboub) don't get into foul trouble. I look forward to seeing all the Hobbs folks come. Hopefully, Cleveland brings their band too. They are pretty good and would contribute to the atmosphere.

Go Storm!

Jones getting in foul trouble for Hobbs is always a concern for the Eagles. He's played a pretty clean tournament so far and not picked up stupid fouls. And after seeing Cleveland play 3 games in Hobbs in late December, Williams worries me more than Ryan Jones does.

It should be a great game and great atmosphere tomorrow night. Good luck and safe travels to everyone.

Audit, you at right about Jones. I liked the game he played yesterday. I thought the officials called a good game. I think though they missed the undercut of Jones on the alleyoop late in the 2nd Half.

Is Jones going anywhere to play basketball after this season?

I don't have a dog in this hunt but I did find it interesting that the red headed official that called the 2 quick fouls on Brady Patterson is the same goof ball that called 4 of the 5 fouls on Danni Williams on the girls side about 6 hours earlier.

Thanks Yancey, I was asking about Kelvin Jones and not Ryan Jones as I know where he is going.

I've been coming to the state tourney for about 45 years. This is going to be the largest contingent of Hobbs fans ever. My family is here and are as impressed as I am.

There were more in 1981 against albq. High when the pit was sold out 18,000 with about 5,000 from Hobbs and also Ronald Ross senior year when Hobbs beat Clovis and Hobbs people renamed the pit to tasker arena north. So would someone please straighten out the misinformed poster on here that stated when Hobbs plays u here crickets.sure hope he was there to here them Saturday night.
