Here is our 2015 APS Metro Tournament Preview

1. Cleveland - Big favorite to win the APS Tournament. Currently have a 10-1 record. Critics are beginning to question their toughness.

2. Albuquerque - Undefeated on the year with a 8-0 record. Watch for guard Gabe Bump to shine. If they want to prove
something now is the time.

3. Hope Christian - Now 7-2 after taking 2nd at the Rio Rancho Tournament. Only a 4A school, but have the talent and coaching to win it all.

4. West Mesa - 7-1 on the year with their lone loss coming to Hope Christian. Zach Schroer is their game breaker.

5. Atrisco Heritage - 5-3 on the season and somewhat of an up and down team. Consider them a sleeper team and don’t count them out of making a final 4 run.

6. Rio Rancho - Now 9-3 after winning the Rio Rancho Tournament. With Brady Patterson back from football, this team could win it all and we don’t just mean the APS Tournament.

7. Rio Grande - Sean Jimenez’s Rio Grande Ravens are an impressive 6-2 this year, but have strange losses to Santa Fe and to Sandia.

8. Volcano Vista - The Hawks are 7-2 this year and also considered a sleeper team, if they get past Cibola in the 1st round, they could be a tough match up for Albuquerque.

9. Valley - Coleman’s Vikings are just 4-5 this year, but you can never count last year’s state champs out. Valley vs. Volcano Vista is going to be a great 1st round game.

10. Cibola - The Cougars are 4-4 and somewhat of a early season disappointment. However, Ray Rodriguez is too good of a coach not to turn things around.

11. Sandia - Not sure what is up at Sandia, but they are 2-7 on the year and if they don’t make some changes they could be missing the state tournament.

12. La Cueva - The Bears have won just 3 games this year and are now missing one of their best players Aaron Overacker to injury. Let’s see how they play Atrisco in round one.

13. Manzano - The Monarchs are 4-5 on the season and beating Valencia in the 3rd place game of the Alamogordo Tournament.

14. Eldorado - Another surprise early on is Eldorado’s 3-5 record. Roy Sanchez is as good as a coach they come, but not having Gentry is hurting them.

15. Del Norte - The Knights are coming off wins over Valencia and Kirtland Central during the Duke City Challenge.

16. Highland - The Hornets are just 1-7 this year with their lone win come against Del Norte.
