RAPID FIRE: GAMES TO WATCH THIS WEEK

Game of the Week: No. 1 Rio Rancho vs No. 2 Cleveland. What more could you ask in the terms of "Game of the Week". Josh Foley the consensus for Top Running Back in the state vs Nikki Papadopoulos the player of the week n week 5 after scoring five touchdowns.

Upset Watch of the Week: No. 23 Alamogordo vs No. 5 Artesia. Yes, this is not the choice to take. However, Alamogordo hasn't had their statement game this season - last year it was Mayfield. This is the chance and why not when you have an offense that has the talent to make it interesting in any contest.

Coaching match up to Watch: Ron McMath, West Mesa vs Stacey Washington, Highland. Both are fiery coaches - yes all are - but these two have the state playoff to play for. This preseason I picked them to be the best two from this district. The winner takes a closer step.

X Factor of the Week: Chris Campbell, La Cueva. We know the wide reciever is killing it this year but Campbell is the X-Factor in a game against Manzano. These two are playing for the state tournament, Campbell is the player that is ready to make known they could be a threat for winning a game in the state tournament.

Under the Radar Game of the Week: Hot Springs vs Socorro. 4A game that we could correctly use pretender vs contender for the state tournament. Socorro at 6-0 hasn't made many believers, some, not all and this game will start to have the seesaw in their favor with a win.

Under Hyped Game: Kirtland Central vs Aztec. Not exactly the headline that you expect for the word hype. However, two offenses that could move the chains in a high scoring affair. Plenty on the line with few at-large bids left.

Close call Game: Miyamura vs Bloomfield. The Patriots are 4-1 on the season. They have an offense that at moments looks solid, but something about a killer instinct is needed in this game. They have won big but we expected some shutouts. Bloomfield, this unknown 3-2 team that is on a three game win streak. Bloomfield offense also struggles and needs to make sure this one stays in the 20's, they won their last two by scores of 26-0, 28-21, and 26-24. If it gets into the 30's we like the Patriots.

Shootout Game: Las Cruces vs Hobbs. Is it crazy to consider this on the upsets of games - yes - that is why I didn't create any morning controversy or consider calling for my head. However, even though Hobbs is 1-4 on the season they can score. They have put up 37, 56 and 41 in their last three games. Las Cruces is 4-1 and ranked third in the state. They too can score putting up 41, 42 and 55 in their last three games. Over or under 110?

Rivalry Game To Watch: Cobre vs Silver. Cobre is coming off a huge win over a Fab 50 team. Silver sort of up and down. This one puts either team closer to a top-7 spot at state, Silver coming off a tough one to Ruidoso last week in a 36-33 loss could add extra needed to win this one. However, Cobre is this sleeping giant that could have only been poked last week.
