I wanted to invite everyone to come out to our memorial baseball tournament this Thursday, Friday, & Saturday from 8am-5:30pm to help support a raffle that we are putting on to help raise funds for two special people in our community.
Nathan Barkocy, a Pius sophomore who was hit by a car going 50mph while riding his bike a month ago. He suffered a severe head injury that has kept him in the neuro ICU ever since. The good news is that he is progressively getting better but it will be a long road ahead to his full recovery.
Coach Gunther - Sandia - was recently diagnosed with an advanced stage of colon cancer.
Older brother of Andres and former player of mine, Carlos Arguello who went on to pitch at ASU has brought 3 signed baseballs to be raffled off for this event. One is from his former teammate and best friend, Dustin Pedroia, another signed by Paul "Goldy" Goldschmidt, 1B for the D-backs, & another by Andre Ethier - Dodgers. Carlos resides in Phoenix now and throws BP to the D-backs in his spare time. There will be more items of course to be included in the raffle, but these 3 signed baseballs are by far the biggest.
