All hypothetical. That's what make the life of a sports fan fun - if it be with a buddy in your garage or on a board like this.

We continue to go round and round with the perfect or ideal district alignment.

Is it time to break free from what has always been or what every other state does?

My idea is just an idea that has been talked about, discussed and never considered (maybe it has). Is it time for a "power classification"?

Top 20 teams by performance and history play in top division. With teams like Santa Fe, Rio Grande and maybe District 4-6A never going to win a state title maybe they could (should) play in the next 20 of big schools. Take the biggest 40 schools in terms of enrollment and place them in Division 1 and Division 2.

Two Regions Top 8 go to state

Division 1 - north
Cleveland
Rio Rancho
Volcano Vista
Cibola
Sandia
Eldorado
Manzano
Clovis
Los Lunas
St Pius

Division 2 - South
Las Cruces
Centennial
Mayfield
Onate
Hobbs
Artesia
Alamogordo
Goddard
Roswell
Carlsbad

7 game season, 3 out of Region games.

Division 2 North
Santa Fe
Rio Grande
Highland
West Mesa
Albuquerque
Capital
Atrisco
Valley
Robertson
Pieces Vista

Division 2 South
Lovington
Deming
Gadsden
Belen
Valencia
Grants
Hatch Valley
Moriarty

Note: id have to look at numbers for enrollment for biggest in terms of enrollment and possibly have division 3 football. Top 60 teams and place them in status division. Maybe keep some smaller enrollment teams in 2 or 3 only even if successful.

Either way just an idea
