As the 2015-2016 year comes to an end, there are many things to reflect on throughout the year. Things we should have done differently, how we will get better at this or that, or whatever the list may include. The one thing I know, coaches, you all did a great job this year. Regardless of your season outcome, only fellow coaches know the time, effort, blood, sweat, and tears that you put in every year. There are few things that parents and fans understand about our profession (it is evident when your read some of the comments on here). Here are some of the things few people realize:

  1. You got into this profession for other people's kids
  2. You don't get your satisfaction from pay or your success, you get it from watching your players succeed
  3. You are willing to wait after practice for a parent to pick up their child, because you don't want them to wait alone
  4. Despite the issues you have with a parent, you are willing to put them aside for the benefit of your player, who has no control over their parent
  5. You put more money into your program and players than your get paid
  6. You play a role way beyond coach; your are mentor, teacher, parent, psychologist, psychiatrist, spiritual leader, and the list goes on
  7. You will do anything to defend your players, regardless of your are 10-0 or 0-10
  8. You are a mentor to your players long after they have left your program
If you have more, add to the list and show your appreciation for our fellow brothers and sisters in the coaching profession.

Good luck to you all this season. Remember, when things get tough with the people outside of your program, you aren't alone. Praying for your all, and your efforts are appreciated. Bring your best every game this year, I know we will!
