Week 9 New Mexico High School Basketball Rankings

NMPreps weekly rankings for the 2021/2022 New Mexico high school basketball. The rankings reflect the previous week. This is for the week of January 17th - 23rd. #nmpreps

5A BASKETBALL - TOP 12

1. Las Cruces (16-0)
2. Volcano Vista (16-0)
3. Atrisco Heritage (13-2)
4. La Cueva (11-2)
5. Hobbs (16-2)
6. Rio Rancho (11-5)
7. Sandia (8-6)
8. Santa Fe (12-2)
9. Cleveland (10-6)
10. Farmington (15-1)
11. Los Lunas (8-8)
12. Carlsbad (15-3)

New: N/A | Dropped: N/A | Next: Organ Mountain (6-9)

Movement: Cleveland dropped from #7 in week eight to #9 this week. They have five straight, three last week to La Cueva, Sandia, and Hobbs. Sandia and Cleveland flipped spots this week. No other big or "bad" losses this week for the top-12. Los Lunas fell on the road to Hobbs but that's it, they'll stay at 11.

Movement: Taos had a solid week going 4-0 with wins over Pecos, Artesia, St. Pius X, and Hope Christian. They jumped back into the top-12 rankings.

Movement: We have some movement since our week seven rankings. Legacy Academy joins the top-12 with a win over Fort Sumner. Dora is new and another team that could be a threat to reach the second round. Magdalena is the real deal and as of now we are looking for the team that could face them in the state championship game.
