What Happened: The Bears moved to (2-0) on the season with a 21-point win over Albuquerque High. The Lady Bears who played for the title last season could be a force again this season. The Bears have outscored both opponents 60 to 36.
Alamogordo Lady Tigers
Record: 3-0
What Happened: The Lady Tigers will have it's true test this week but off to a hot 3-0 start. The Lady Tigers won a resume "helper" with a win over Gadsden.
Rio Rancho Lady Rams
Record: 2-0
What Happened: Well the Lady Rams are improved already from a season ago, long year to go, but a nice 2-0 start. The Lady Rams beat a good Farmington squad last week.
THE REST 5A & 4A
Moriarty Lady Pintos
Record: 3-0
What Happened: The Lady Pintos with a hot three start with wins over Manzano, Sandia Prep and Taos. They have outscored them 156-79.
Gallup Lady Bengals
Record: 3-0
What Happened: The Lady Bengals had one of the bigger wins to open the season with a 66-56 win over top ranked Las Cruces. The Lady Bengals also had a win over Del Norte by 51 last week (71-20).
Hatch Valley Lady Bears
Record: 3-0
What Happened: The Lady Bears moved to 3-0 on the season with a 48-28 win over 5A Santa Teresa.
THE PLAYERS WHO STOOD OUT - THE BIG THREE
Sophie Long, 2017, Albuquerque Academy: The junior opened the season with two impressive games 20 points 11 boards in win over Manzano 11/23 and 30 points 17 rebounds in win over Capital 11/24
Esperanza Varoz, 2019, West Mesa HS: 24 points and 5 rebounds for the freshman in a win over Sandia Prep.
Kristyn Arculeta, 2016, Alamogordo HS: With her second double-double on the season, Archuleta put in 27 points and 13 rebound in a win over Gadsden.
