Everyone knows that the hotbed of high school football in the U.S, is the state of Texas, although California, Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania might argue. They grow amazing athletes and have incredible support. They also have huge schools at the big school level. What IF New Mexico schools would consolidate and be as large as some of the large schools in Texas? Would they or could they be competitive?
What IF Rio Rancho consolidated RRHS and CHS into a mega-school of 4,500+ students? Would they be abe to field teams competitive with our Texas neighbors? What if Mayfield and Onate combined to make a 3000 student high school? What if Cruces High and Centennial combined to make a 3000 student high school? What if you put La Cueva and Eldorado together? Volcano Vista and Cibola? Sandia and Manzano? Etc.
Would those combinations, or other combos make New Mexico schools competitve? Of course, there are some small Texas schools who could probably outplay some of the big boys. Maybe it is the Texas mystique and talent pool in general. What do you think?
