The proposed realignment will be interesting for soccer in a few ways:
1. Piedra Vista will take its lumps for a while in a district with the Rio Rancho schools, Cibola and Cleveland.
2. District 2-5A will have some tough competition with Academy, Capital and Los Alamos.
3. Santa Teresa and Chaparral are much better off, both in terms of decreased travel and the fact that they should be able to compete with both Deming and Alamogordo. The Valencia County schools are better off too.
4. St. Pius won't have to worry about getting past Academy every year (and vice versa).
