Enormous News For NM Coaches & Teachers

Because of the recent analysis of unbelievable amounts of oil & gas reserves under Lea and Eddy counties the economic impact and therefore windfall to schools and colleges will be unprecedented. This has already created wage increases for coaches and educators. Hobbs school teachers have received 11.14% pay increases along with the 5.0% pay increases last year for a total of 16.14% increase over just two years.

ExxonMobil just announced that they will invest 55 Billion dollars in Lea & Eddy counties and will produce over one million barrels of oil per day. Keep in mind that they are only one of eighteen major oil produces and investors in these counties and it is expected that each will have staggering projections of investment and production over the next 40 years also. Lea and Eddy counties are already the number 2 and number 3 producers of oil and gas in the nation. The Hobbs area is already preparing for the housing issues that will arise. There have been about 400 new housing units either already placed or under construction including five new housing developments with 1,200 to 1,400 more homes projected. Of course new, expanded and remodeled schools will be necessary. Most important, all of the state income from this production will benefit every city, town, school and college in the entire state. And importantly, coaches and teachers will benefit.
