Likely to return to the quarterfinals: Clovis or Hobbs

Could take a bigger step back: Cleveland or Las Cruces

More Likely to make playoffs: Mayfield or Volcano Vista

More Likely to win QB of the Year in 2018: Mason Caperton (Eunice), Jude Segura (FT. Summer)

More Likely to return to repeat: Manzano or Ruidoso

And I have a healthy list of Honorable Mentions

(This is assuming no changes after appeals).

1. Capital, Farmington, Roswell, Alamogordo and Deming all move up. Those are all good teams that are going to find the sledding much tougher.

2. 4A (the old 5A) is going to look very different. It loses those teams and adds Highland, Valley, Hope Christian, Shiprock, Wingate, SF Indian, Pojoaque, Taos, Ruidoso, Silver, Moriarty, and Portales. Of these, Highland, Valley and Hope seem like the top contenders for a title. All in all, 4A probably got worse overall despite adding teams.
