No. 11 (5A) Hobbs (3-2) at NR (Texas) Trinity Christian TX (12-4)

No. 10 (5A) Los Lunas (3-2) vs. No. 3 (5A) Atrisco Heritage (4-0)

Grants showcased their skills in Santa Fe last week, and Shiprock remains perfect at 4-0. Keep an eye on Noah Victorino's sharpshooting for Grants and Navaughn Begay's explosive performance for Shiprock, who dropped an impressive 28 points last week.

No. 14 (4A) Espanola Valley (2-3) vs. No. 16 (4A) Bernalillo (3-3)

This early bubble game could offer a glimpse into the 2024 state tournament. Espanola Valley, having secured crucial wins against tough opponents, faces a Bernalillo team aspiring to make its mark. With a key win over Del Norte last week, Bernalillo has the potential to rise, and this matchup could be the turning point.

No. 7 (3A) Bosque (4-1) vs. No. 3 (4A) Valley (3-2)

In the cross-classification game of the week, 3A Bosque heads across the river to face 4A Valley in a North Valley-Albuquerque battle. Top 100 Player Performances Illuminate Week 2 of NM High School Basketball Season

The second week of New Mexico high school basketball brought forth a myriad of outstanding individual performances, showcasing the talent and resilience of players across the state. Here are the top 100 player performances from December 4th to December 9th, 2023:

The list continues with stellar performances, showcasing the diverse skills of high school athletes. Notable contributions include Daniel Stevenson's (Cleveland, 2024) impressive 41 points in a win over Los Lunas, and Jalin Holland's (Los Lunas, 2025) remarkable 36 points against Cleveland. Meanwhile, players like Santiago Gonzalez (Rio Grande, 2024) demonstrated dominance with a 33-point, 17-rebound performance against St. Pius X.

Girls' basketball was also well-represented, with notable performances from players like Janessa Gallegos (Atrisco Heritage Academy) scoring 30 points, including 10 three-pointers, in a win over Rio Grande, and Tatiana Magallens (Atrisco Heritage Academy) contributing 15 points in a victory over Rio Grande. Finalists for the 2023 NMPreps New Mexico High School Football Running Back of the Year

As the dust settles on another thrilling high school football season in New Mexico, ten outstanding running backs have emerged as the finalists for the prestigious NMPreps New Mexico High School Football Running Back of the Year award. Each athlete showcased exceptional talent and played a crucial role in their team's success during the 2023 season.

Adrick Deleon - Espanola Valley (2024)
In a historic season for the Sundevils, Deleon stood out with an incredible performance. The running back totaled 1,887 rushing yards and crossed the end zone an impressive 31 times, leaving a lasting mark on Espanola Valley's football legacy.

Alijah Gonzales - Volcano Vista (2024)
Gonzales, the top-ranked running back in New Mexico, was a force to be reckoned with on the field. Accumulating 1,791 yards and scoring 17 touchdowns, he played a pivotal role in Volcano Vista's success throughout the season.

Bryce Sanchez - Roswell (2024)
Contributing significantly to Roswell's remarkable 12-1 season, Sanchez showcased his prowess by surpassing the 1,000-yard rushing mark and recording over 15 rushing touchdowns. His efforts were instrumental in Roswell's impressive campaign.

Charlez Lopez-Burton - Valley (2024)
Lopez-Burton, a senior running back for the Vikings, had a standout season, amassing 1,832 rushing yards and finding the end zone 22 times. His contributions played a crucial role in Valley's offensive success.

Eliseo "Cheeto" Lumbrera III - La Cueva (2024)
Lumbrera emerged as a force in the latter part of the season, playing a pivotal role in La Cueva's journey to the 6A state championship. Saul Armendariz - Hobbs (2024)

Today, we unveil the candidates for the prestigious title of New Mexico High School Football Quarterback of the Year for the 2023 season. Throughout the season, we gathered nominations, leading us to the selection of eight outstanding finalists who demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, and performance on the gridiron. Let's take a closer look at each candidate, along with their impressive 2023 season statistics:

Cameron Dyer - La Cueva High School (2025)
Accolades: Widely regarded as the most dynamic QB in New Mexico, Dyer amassed 2,402 passing yards and 23 passing touchdowns during the season, guiding the La Cueva Bears to the 6A state championship. Additionally, he showcased his versatility with 1,359 rushing yards and 23 rushing touchdowns

Dillon Salazar - Tularosa High School (2024)
Accolades: Salazar delivered an outstanding performance with 45 passing touchdowns and 3,264 passing yards, leading the Tularosa Wildcats to an 8-4 overall record and a semifinal showing. His dual-threat capabilities were evident with 477 rushing yards and 5 rushing touchdowns.

Elijah Brody - West Mesa High School (2024)

Manny Fuentez - Roswell High School (2024)

Nye Estrada - Artesia High School (2024)

Paxton Culpepper - Portales High School (2025)

Trel Griego - Farmington High School (2024)

Wyatt Gomez - Lovington High School (2024)
