Albuquerque’s newest media darling is a fiercely independent, articulate, sports-crazy fireball.

He is 14 years old, stands a shade over 4 feet tall, weighs about 60 pounds and is often confined to a wheelchair.

He is not an athlete.

Austin Denton is a broadcaster.

A professional broadcaster. As in, on a payroll.

Political Fun

Because we all like to take ourselves a bit too seriously at times, and we need to lighten the mood, I came up with some potential political campaign slogans. Of course, the point is for you all to add your own. Be nice, but more importantly, be funny.

Bernie Sanders: I'll give you the the shirt off somebody else's back.

Donald Trump: I'll sell you the shirt for your next interview, it's from the Donald Trump line, you can get it at Macy's for $79.00, It's made of only the finest materials, not sure what they are, but it's very classy, very very classy, they come in small, medium, and EUUUGE. Have I mentioned I'm rich?

Hillary Clinton: Shirt, what shirt? No shirt here, I never saw a shirt.

Jeb Bush: My brother had a shirt, it was a nice shirt, I have nice shirts too, but of course it's a different shirt.

Joe Biden: Like my shirt? Me too, I like to touch it, caress it, and feel the softness of my shirt, especially from behind, and then I like to say something kinda creepy to my shirt and make it feel awkward in front of the permanent press.

Ben Carson: You like my shirt? Actually, I like your shirt, that is a very nice shirt, but I'll have to cut it off in case of a medical emergency.

Carly Fiorina: You didn't know about my shirt before, but now know that my shirt can kick the shit out of Donald Trump's shirt in a debate.

All the other Republican Nominees: I wish we had a shirt!

NMPreps.com's Week 5 Players of The Week

Jayson Baca (Academy/Class of 2019) Freshman Jayson Baca made a name for himself last year as an eighth grader and is only doing so again this year. He scored the only goal as he led the Chargers to a victory over #2 Rio Rancho. The Chargers have won 6 straight, scoring 16 goals and allowing none.

Valerie Maestas (Eldorado/Class of 2016) The Eldorado Eagles Girls Soccer team is killing it this season, and that’s in big part thanks to Senior Captain Valerie Maestas. Maestas scored both goals for the Eagles in their victory over #1 Volcano Vista. Maestas has 6 goals and 3 assists on the season.

Grine's Big 3 for the Weekend. Bold Predictions.

Every Friday, Grine gives his three bold predictions for surprising headlines over the weekend. Three crazy picks that could surprise, three that might be insane or the big three reach picks. Last week, I made the crazy pick of the Bulldogs of AHS over Sandia - big flop.

More: Last Week | Week 2

1. The Stat 'Getter': Justin Houghtaling Combines for 7 Touchdowns: This would be huge playing against a Top-25 team in No. 18 Deming but the 3-0 No. 5 Artesia Bulldogs are the favorite in 5A. Also, Houghtaling is on fire, he scored/combined for 5 touchdowns last week. Mr. Bulldog this is bold but bring home 7 to make my bold pick a reality.

2. The Winner: Eldorado over Volcano; Alamogordo over Mayfield: According to Pick 'Em not two picks most people had. Eldorado could catch Volcano off-guard this week, as the Hawks have been battling tough with top teams (Las Cruces) but haven't looked dominate since destroying Sandia. Alamogordo has lost like ten years straight to Mayfield, is this the year? At home, new scoreboard I think the Tigers gun it out with the Trojans and win on a two point conversion in the fourth quarter.

3. The Score Prediction: 62-65 Cleveland: The Storm and Wildcats duel it out on a scoring frenzy Friday night across New Mexico. I wouldn't be surprised, or for the sake of Big Three Bold Predictions, I will that we have several close games in the 50's, 60's and maybe one in the 70's. Most are predicting Cleveland runs past Clovis but I could see the Wildcats score it out with them but fall in OT by field goal. Bonus: My alma mater the Angry Jack Grants Pirates win over Miyamura for the Top-25 upset.
