Hendo's Top 10 From The Weekend - Thank You Notes

Thank you to everyone that made the 2015 NMPreps Elite Combine a success!

1712788.jpg

1. Las Cruces Visitors & Convention’s Bureau

Special thanks to Ed Carnathan of the Las Cruces Visitors & Convention’s Bureau for helping assist me with getting the NMPreps Elite Combine to Las Cruces. From working with the Las Cruces Public Schools, setting up hotel discounts, to getting Samson Equipment on-board, Ed was excellent to work with and stayed literally until they turned the lights off.

2. Major Sponsors: Tate Branch Auto Group, First Financial Credit Union
Continued thanks to our major sponsors in Tate Branch Auto Group and First Financial Credit Union. The NMPreps Truck was filled completely with milk, fruit punch, orange juice, waters, and Ice (all from Price’s Creameries). Kids love the NMPreps Truck. First Financial Credit Union distributed more than 200 shirts and over 240 blender bottles, they are just outstanding!

3. Pete Rammando
Peter Rammando is the father of Matthew Rammando (2010 Combine MVP and Michigan Commit/NMSU Player). We’ve been friends since 2009 and he was my right hand man in Las Cruces without me asking him to do anything. His wife fed us dinner Wednesday Night, he bought 100 premium hot dogs (Sam’s Club) and 40 bags of ice all by himself for the event. During the event he handed out water to all the combine coaches (no one asked him to do this). He also helped me get the Mayfield booster club on-board to cook the hamburgers for the athletes after the event.
1712794.jpg

4. Booster Clubs
All four booster clubs in Las Cruces came through which was a huge help. As mentioned Mayfield cooked the burgers and dogs after the event (largest tailgate grill I’ve ever seen), Onate ran the concession, Las Cruces contributed in taking care of the rooms for the NMPreps Staff.

5. Prices Creameries, Burger Time, Samson Equipment, Sarah Lee, Springhill Suites Marriott
Bobby Hernandez of Prices Creameries distributed the drinks as mentioned and was a great guy to meet in person, Kevin McGrath of Burger Time donated 245 burgers to the event, Sara Lee Bread donated 245 buns, as mentioned Springhill Suites took care of rooms for the NMPreps Staff.

6. Coaches
I was worried that getting coaches for the event would be tough since I could not rely on one-single school, however working with the four high schools in Las Cruces we were able to build out a great combine coaching staff. These coaches were coaching the kids up like they would their own kids.

7. Aaron, the field manager at the Field of Dreams
This guy is outstanding to work with, my goodness. He literally lives on site at the Field of Dreams and just kills it in every way. I hope they are paying him well because this man could take care of an NFL stadium.

8. People Behind The Scenes
Too many people behind the scenes to make the event work well. If I missed mentioning your name hold it against my head and not my heart.

9. Kdog
My son Kaden was a huge help in organizing all the combine cards and just having him at the event is always fun to watch. There were so many times when we had no idea where he was, but he was running on the field just loving it! Saw him run across at the 40-times one time and had to get on him, but other than that he’s my main man!
1712784.jpg

10. My family
My wife is the best, my mother kills registration, and my sister Alexis is just incredible.

OT Four Quarters: Tiger, Hockey, & NBA

Been a couple weeks since I did a Four Quarters.

Thoughts on Golf this weekend. Tiger terrible (+4), will he ever win or be near the top again?. Spieth is unreal. Him, Fowler and Roy now the face of golf?

Would it be a good idea of hockey in Vegas? I love both hockey and Vegas so I would be all for it. Also, the talk of a potential team in Vegas for the NBA would be awesome. I know a very long shot but I think-why not?

The Clippers a favorite now with Josh Smith? The west is really all that matters so I say, 1 Spurs 2. Warriors 3. Thunders 4. Clippers 5. Rockets 6. Grizzlies 7. Pelicans 8. Suns 9. Kings (or chaos) 10. Timberwolves (long shot)

Dez Bryant signing a 70 mill contract. Should it have been more? I'm a Lions fan and love Calvin and glad he is the highest paid but Bryant is just as good (not better).
