Congrats to Jared Mang of Los Alamos - the 2013-2014 New Mexico Gatorade Baseball Player of the year!

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound junior shortstop, second baseman and right-handed pitcher batted .605 with two home runs, 44 RBI and 35 runs scored, leading the Hilltoppers (22-7) to the Class 4A quarterfinals this past season. The 2013 District 2-4A Player of the Year, Mang swiped 21 bases and slugged .926. He also posted an 8-2 record on the mound with a 1.01 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 55.2 innings pitched.

Mang has maintained a 3.84 GPA in the classroom. A member of the National Honor Society, he has volunteered locally on behalf of the Natural Helpers peer leadership group.

Silver catcher Shakur Martinez would catch first game in doubleheader and pitch the next game he performed well in both games all season and hit the ball well. to be a second all-state catcher while kids who only performed well in a few games and were selected all-state first team was not only wrong but also an insult.

Probably the largest HS tournament in New Mexico. Games are Thursday through Sunday, with most of the APS teams participating plus PV, Farmington, Cleveland, Clovis, Las Cruces, Valencia, Academy and others. 24 teams participating. Brackets and info at nmgames.swcp.com.

ABA 17s wins the 18U division...48 teams NM, CO, CA, NV, AZ. Played 3 Saturday and 3 Sunday to win it.

ABA 16s and ABA 15s lose in the quarter finals of the 16U division (36 teams). Both teams lost one run games.
