NMPreps.com's 2015-2016 5A Preseason Top-10
Joshua J. Grine of NMPreps.com

Today, we take a look at our preseason ranking and showcase the teams, players and give our thoughts on the season.

Top-10 Ranking - November 12th
1. Roswell
2. Los Lunas
3. Gallup
4. Espanola Valley
5. Valencia
6. Los Alamos
7. Farmington
8. Belen
9. Grants
10. Lovington

We start off at the top of our list with our early season favorite in the Roswell Lady Coyotes, who finished 24-5, 6-1 last season ending with a loss in the Final Four to state champion Los Lunas.

The Lady Coyotes only graduate three players and return eight players, people in Roswell hope this is the year they finally get over the hump. Jaedyn De la Cerda (Guard/2017) is a rising prospect and one we are excited to see in 2015-2016.

The reigning state champions come in ranked No. 2 on our NMPreps.com Preseason Top-10 Rankings. The Tigers led by one of the top head coaches in women's basketball will be, again, one of the most feared and favorite teams. Jordan Holland (2016) is arguably one of the top overall athletes in the state and will be the one to watch for the Lady Tigers.

Ni'Asia McIntosh (Wing/2017), a likely preseason candidate for Miss Basketball in the State of New Mexico, will lead the Gallup Lady Bengals in 2015-2016. The star junior will look to help lead her squad back to the state championship after a runner-up in 2015.

Espanola Valley returns after a 25-4, 8-1 season that resulted in a Final Four showing. The Lady Sundevils return the roster and will be a contender again. Kaitlyn Romero (Guard/2016) returns for her fourth varsity season.

Rounding out the top five the Valencia Lady Jaguars have continually been on the cusp of reaching the final game. Lorien Aragon (PG/2017), Raenne Herrera (C/2016) and Destinee Vigil (Guard/2017) create a trio that will be the dark horse of the bunch.

Ashlynn Trujillo (Guard/2016) and the Los Alamos Lady Hilltoppers will make the group of ten teams in 5A one of the strongest classifications in the state of New Mexico for women's basketball.

Farmington returns their starting line-up including their five leading scorers in what could be the team that makes the Final Four. Brighton Clah (2016) was the leader with 9.1 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

Belen has a pair of sophomores in Maya Trujillo and Leandra Sanchez that could create a serious contender in a couple years. This will be a growing year but this will be a team you wont be able to sleep on coming off a 20-8, 7-3 season.

Haley Hall (2016/Guard) returns for the Grants Pirates at No. 9. This was the statement regarding Hall "Very smart player, deceptive, scores slashing into the paint and on the break".

Myra Salazar (2016) will look to lead the Lovington Lady Wildcats in 2016 and will place her name among the top players in the state.

GRINE'S CRYSTAL BALL

State Champion: Roswell
Runner-Up: Valencia
Final Four: Roswell, Valencia, Gallup, Los Lunas

Years and years the Lady Coyotes are there, along with Valencia, and this could be a season when they both reach another level.
