Rules:
  • No Power 5 team is technically out of the running until it suffers its second loss (unless that first loss was something really drastic, like to an FCS team). As 2016 Penn State showed, certain two-loss Power 5s that suffer blowouts are still alive, but for now, we’ll likely knock out all two-loss teams.
  • One loss eliminates any mid-major. Non-powers have zero margin for error, and many lack the schedule strength to make it even if they do go undefeated.

Bob Bell

Bob Bell passed away last night. For those who do not know, Coach Bell was the Head Coach of the 1979 State Champion Estancia Bears. He spent roughly 25 years as the HC in Estancia and the field is named in his honor.

When I first got to Estancia Coach Bell loved to drop in my office and chat. The man loved football and could talk endlessly about it.

If any of you have any memories or stories with Coach Bell, I would really appreciate hearing them.
