Pictured: The Portales Rams who are 3-0 this season who take on Eunice in Week 4

Bloomfield 3-0 @ Taos 1-2
The Bobcats continue to roll on the season now at 3-0 following a 56-6 win over Socorro. On the season they have outscored the comp 156-34. JD Robinson leads the team with 293-yards through three games. The Taos Tigers have allowed 77 points in their last two games under first year Head Coach Art Abreau Jr.

Carrizozo 3-0 @ Gateway 3-0
The Warriors are the big favorite in this match up after a statement win in week 3 defeating Magdalena 50-14. The Gizzles also 3-0 on the season are coming off wins against Ramaha, Tse Yi Gai, and Tatum. Caleb Venture has scored 9 touchdowns for Carrizozo.

Clint (TX) 2-1 @ Hatch 3-0
The NMPreps.com’s No. 1 team in Class 4A will host Clint, TX this weekend in an interesting match up. The Bears have been on fire so far this year scoring 50.6 points per game. Clint is 2-1 on the season after falling to Horizon 34-26 in week 3. Adrian Grajeda has rushed for 383-yards and 7 touchdowns in 3 games for the Bears.

Dexter 2-1 @ Tucumcari 1-2
The Demons have played in three games that have all featured a shutout. In week 1 they lost to Hatch 41-0, in week 2 they beat Tularosa 42-0, and in week 3 they beat Hagerman 50-0. Dexter Senior Quarterback Dominic Lomeli has thrown for 243-yards and 4 touchdowns on the season. For the Rattlers, they are 1-2 and still a bit of a question mark beating Texico in week 2, but losing to Estancia 51-0.

Estancia 3-0 @ Capitan 2-1
The Bears are playing at a very high level and actually are close to being ranked in the NMPreps.com Top 25 after a 51-0 win over Tucumcari. The Capitan Tigers are 2-1 after a 37-0 win over Jal. Sophomore Mosies Anaya has ran for over 300-yards and Adam Lujan has ran for 296 for Estancia.

Hope 2-1 @ Santa Rosa 1-2
The Huskies started off the season 2-0 beating Academy and Taos, then lost to Grants in week 3 by a score of 33-14. Senior Quarterback Caleb Meyer Hagan has thrown for 522-yards and 8 touchdowns so far. The Lions are now 1-2 after losing to Robertson 28-12, their lone win comes against Academy in week 2 as they defeated the Chargers 22-14.

Hot Springs 3-0 @ Lordsburg 2-1
Big test for Hot Springs who is now 3-0 on the season after another no-contest win over Thoreau. The Tigers have outscored the comp 114-6 in three games, Lordsburg is clearly the best team they have played all season. The Mavericks are 2-1 after losing to Hatch 63-29.

Laguna 1-1 @ Socorro 1-1
The Laguna Acoma Hawks lost to West Las Vegas last weekend 35-14 and now sit at 1-1 on the season. The Warriors who won their first game in two-seasons back in week 1 defeating Shiprock 66-30 lost to Bloomfield in week 3 56-6.

Portales 3-0 @ Eunice 1-2
The Rams seem to have something special going on this season, last week they rolled past Texico 36-0, the week before that they beat Lovington 48-12. Running Back Bronte Staugaard has ran for 592-yards and 9 touchdowns in two games. The Cardinals earned their first win of the season defeating Tularosa 32-13.

Raton 1-2 @ Escalante 3-0
The Raton Tigers started the season with a 42-6 win over McCurdy, since they have been beaten by La Junta, Colorado 47-0 and by Trinidad, Colorado 41-8. The Lobos have won 15 in a row under Dusty Giles and are coming off a 56-6 win over Navajo Prep. Dominic Montano has rushed for 401-yards and 9 touchdowns in three games.

Robertson 1-2 @ St. Mike’s 3-0
The Cardinals won their first game of the season defeating Santa Rosa 28-12 in week 3 and now have another tough test against St. Mike’s on Saturday. This is not a make or break game, but there are few things better for a Robertson fan than beating St. Mike’s, especially in Santa Fe. The Horsemen have scored 91 points in their last two games, last weekend they beat Taos 42-17, the week before they beat Capital 49-20. Watch for Chross Jaramillo as a multi-spot athlete, Xavier Vigil at running back and backer is a play-maker.

Ruidoso 0-3 @ Pojoaque 0-3
Someone has to win this game right? The defending 4A state champs are hurting due to losses to graduation, but they have also played a tough schedule losing to Roswell, Hatch, and Lovington. The Elks have been blowing out in their last two games by a combined score of 106-0, last week they lost to Espanola 54-0.

Texico 1-2 @ Clayton 2-1
Not sure many expected Texico to start off the season 1-2 with a loss to Tucumcari and last weekend the Wolverines were held scoreless against Portales losing 36-0. The Yellowjackets are now 2-1 under first year Head Coach Dustin Tippit after a tough loss to Sunray, Texas 32-22. The Yellowjackets are led by Justin Taylor who has rushed for 502-yards and 7 touchdowns in 3 games.

Tularosa 0-3 @ Cobre 1-2
The Wildcats are off to a very slow start and lost to Eunice last weekend 32-13. This weekend they take on Cobre, who reached the 4A state finals just one-year ago. The Indians are now 1-2 after losing to Ysleta in a shootout 40-36.

Another Mormon Miracle For BYU

The Brigham Young University Cougars score two touchdowns in the final minute to come from behind and beat #20 Boise State. The go ahead score was off of a 4th and 7 play and over 30 yards to go. Then to secure the game the Cougs picked off a pass for a 50 yard touchdown to end the contest 35-24. Wow, two weeks in a row with way too much drama. Amazing sea of white at Lavell Edwards Stadium. It looked like 63,000 missionaries. LOL

By: Kyle Henderson of NMPreps.com

We're naming week 4 of the New Mexico High School Football Season "Separation Week". It's time to find out who is for real and who isn't. Today we take a look at a few marquee match ups, our full week 4 preview will be published Friday.

1739313.jpg

No. 1 Cleveland 3-0 @ No. 9 Clovis 3-0
The No. 1 ranked Storm head to Leon Williams Stadium in a battle of undefeated teams. Cleveland certainly the statewide favorite at this point faces really an unknown Clovis bunch. Head Cleveland Football Coach Heath Ridenour is 5-0 all-time against Clovis Head Coach Eric Roanhaus (the most winningest coach in New Mexico history) and Clovis is 0-9 against teams from Rio Rancho since the 2010 season. Our full preview on this game will be published Friday. See what people are saying about this game here.

No. 2 Mayfield 3-0 @ No. 10 Alamogordo 3-0
The Trojans ran through Carlsbad last week 41-6 and now face an undefeated Alamogordo team in a Southwest Primer. The Trojans who have been to the last two big school title games have proven themselves time and time again, Alamogordo is still looking for that statement win to turn critics into believers. The game features two of the top offenses in New Mexico: Alamogordo has scored 158 points in three games, Mayfield has scored 151 points in three games. Our full preview on this game will be published Friday. See what people are saying about this game here.

No. 6 Volcano Vista 2-1 vs. No. 7 Eldorado 3-0
The Hawks suffered their first loss of the season against Las Cruces 24-21 at the Field of Dreams last Saturday and now play in another marquee match up against undefeated Eldorado. This game outcome could very well determine the best team in the City of Albuquerque, all eyes our on the outcome. While the Eagles have a shining record of 3-0 and have outscored the comp 156-8, they have played three teams that have a combined record of 1-8. Our full preview on this game will be published Friday. See what people are saying about this game here.

No. 8 Rio Rancho 2-1 @ No. 4 Las Cruces 2-1
The two teams have played 5 times since 2011 with Rio Rancho winning 4 out of the last 5 meetings. Rio Rancho has won their last 16 games against New Mexico opponents and last weekend looked solid against La Cueva winning 23-3. The Bulldawgs defeated Volcano Vista at home 24-21 in a thriller and will look to get some redemption against a team they have struggled with over the years. Our full preview on this game will be published Friday. See what people are saying about this game here.

No. 5 Artesia 3-0 @ No. 18 Deming 2-1
The Bulldogs are rolling entering week 4 and have scored 121 points in their first three games against Belen, Hobbs, and Valencia. The Bulldogs will make a 242-mile trip to face Deming who is coming off two straight victories over Carlsbad and Silver. This game features two touchdown machines in Artesia Quarterback Justin Houghtaling and Deming Quarterback Dante Urrea, who have each scored 10 touchdowns in the last two weeks of play.

NR Grants 3-0 @ No. 24 Miyamura 2-1
The Grants Pirates moved to 3-0 on the season defeating Hope Christian last weekend 33-14, thanks to 240-yards passing and 5 touchdowns from Brandon Hernandez. This week they take on regional rival Miyamura who is ranked No. 24 in the NMPreps.com Top 25 after a 34-20 loss to Bayfield, Colorado. Watch for Miyamura Running Back AJ Starkovich who has rushed for 281-yards and 5 touchdowns in just three games.

Grine: One-on-One with La Cueva HC Steve Archibeque

Today, we have a look at the La Cueva Lady Bears who are currently ranked fourth in the state of New Mexico (NMPreps.com Top-25 Weekly Team Rankings). The Lady Bears currently playing in the APS Metro Championships tournament are unofficially (2-0). Head coach Steve Archibeque was willing to take time to promote his program and players (like any great coach should-my opinion) so we send a huge thank you to those coaches who do all parts of coaching.

Grine: What are your thoughts on your team this coming season?
Coach Archibeque: Basically our goal is to win Metro, District and State. I believe we are a contender in all three events.

Grine: How tough is your District?
Coach Archibeque: I believe our district is tough this year with us Sandia and Eldorado.

Grine: Who returns for you defense?
Coach Archibeque: Sophia Masuda at libero, and Anna Detry as defense specialist

Grine: Who returns on offense?
Coach Archibeque: We have Madison Harris on the outside, Hannah Brown on the outside,
Celeste Carmignani and Annabelle Kubinski in the middle, and Andrea Howard on the right side.

Grine: How tough is your schedule?
Coach Archibeque: I believe we have one of toughest schedules in the State, we face many ranked teams up until district and our district will have at least three top ten teams.

Grine: What are some teams that will be tough?
Coach Archibeque: St, Pius #2 in 5A, Hope #1 in 4A, Cleveland always a tough, Rio Rancho always a contender however, down this year, Gadsden usually first or second in their district, and Valley and ABQ high who will battle for their district.

Grine: Why do you coach?
Coach Archibeque: Love of the sport and love competition

Grine: How many years?
Coach Archibeque: Off and on, 16 years through club and high school. 9 years at La Cueva, this is my second year as head coach.

Grine: Your philosophy?
Coach Archibeque: Develop young women to be better athletes, scholars, and great individuals.

Thanks coach for helping us promote volleyball in NM.

SCOREBOARD
6A
Gadsden beats Alamogordo, 3-0 in what could be a bubble game for one of those playoff spots. It's early but the Panthers needed to make sure no slip up with a game against a squad under or around .500.

The number one team in the land, La Cueva moves to 7-0 with a clean sweep of Rio Rancho on Tuesday night. On the same day that the second player from the Lady Bears committed to play at the next level, Anna Detry (committed to Colorado State), the Bears own their number one ranking.

Volcano Vista with the sweep of Rio Grande, 3-0 was no surprise. West Mesa over Highland, 3-0 was a bubble game but the Lady Mustangs the clear favorite.

Eldorado, after suffering early season loss to a 2A team have been winning as of late, that continued against Atrisco Heritage with a 3-0 win.

5A

Moriarty over Belen, 3-0 as the Lady Pintos continue an impressive start to the 2015 campaign and remain as a ranked team, top in 5A. FArmington fell to Bayfield (CO), 3-1 but shouldn't weigh to much on their playoff hopes but need to start winning soon at (3-5) on the season.

4A
Down 2-1, the Pojoaque Valley Elkettes came back to win the match, 3-2 over what could be a northern rival in St. Mike's. This could be another bubble type match come state tournament selection time.
