Albuquerque Bulldog Overview
The Albuquerque Bulldogs ended a 43-game losing streak during the 2014 season under then first year Head Coach Curtis Flakes. The Bulldogs went on to win 4 games in 2014 and finished district with a record of 3-2, really the Bulldogs were one game away being playoff eligible. That fact in itself is pretty much unbelievable considering Albuquerque had not won since August 28th of 2010.

Valencia is looking for games for the fall in the metro area. Please contact Carlos Carrasco if interested at ccarrasco@llschools.net. We are also looking to host a round robin weekend in September if we can get a couple of teams. $50 a game.

The summer session is over and most programs slide the basketballs back into the cage. Many basketball players turn in their KD’s for football cleats (I don’t know a popular cleat). To end the summer I want to share something that might get people talking.

Today, I release a summer review to preview of next season. The rankings will change drastically by November 1st, 2015 but for fun or debate here we go.


DISTRICT PREDICTION
District 1-6A
1. Rio Rancho 6-2
2. Cleveland 5-3
3. Volcano Vista 5-3
4. Cibola 3-5
5. Santa Fe 1-7
Quick Hit: I like Rio Rancho and they have many weapons. Cleveland and Volcano are good will battle it out and either could win DC.

District 2-6A
1. Sandia 8-0
2. Eldorado 4-4
3. Highland 4-4
4. Manzano 2-6
5. La Cueva 2-6
Quick Hit: Sandia right now is 8-0 in this District with their roster returning. The others will try to win at home. Eldo beats Manzano twice, Highland beats LC twice, split each other. Eldorado gets the tie breaker in OT.

District 3-6A
1. Onate 7-1
2. Las Cruces 6-2
3. Mayfield 3-5
4. Gadsden 3-5
5. Deming 1-7
Quick Hit: Onate and Cruces split but Mayfield got one at home over LC. I have a feeling Gadsden will be better than 2-6 but I need to know who the new coach is. Deming should be in 5A.

District 4-6A
1. Carlsbad 5-1
2. Hobbs 4-2
3. Alamogordo 2-4
4. Clovis 1-5
Quick Hit: Carlsbad and Hobbs split. Clovis shocked everyone and got Hobbs at home.

District 5-6A
1. Valley 6-2
2. Albuquerque High 5-3
3. Rio Grande 4-4
4. West Mesa 3-5
5. Atricso H. 2-6
Quick Hit: This district is tough and will change. Hard to judge or predict who is above others. Valley dropped one to Rio and split with AH. AH split with VHS but dropped one to WM and AHA. This one could be closer than predicted and could see the leader only win 5 or 4, call upon the tiebreaker in this one.

Skinny: I gave myself :30 seconds to rank all 24 teams in 6A. I look back and could disagree plenty. I want Sandia higher, does Hobbs have 'new' players (I hear rumors), Highland/Rio Grande could be a lot better. Albuquerque High and Las Cruces are teams I feel could be higher than ranked and some say I have to much for Valley.

2 Rio Rancho over 5 Hobbs: The final four game was impressive last season. Hobbs is unknown in June for the most part. Wally does a fine job at RRHS and this team is good.

Buy or Sell: Selling beer at college sporting events - I am going to say buy. IF you are of age you should be able to spend money on what you want. People are always going to be irresponsible no matter where they are, but if an idea like selling boos creates more revenue streams for the University, then so be it. It's not like underage drinking doesn't happen on campus.

Bur or Sell: M80's, Bottle Rockets, and Black Cats - I am going to say buy again. Growing up as a kid and during the summer times with my cousins, we lit countless fireworks and while there were some close calls, there was nothing better than setting off black cats a pack at a time. I know some of you shot bottle rockets out of PVC pipes before...

Buy or Sell: Confederate flag - I am going to say sell. Look it's part of our Country's history and there is no denying that. However, we can't stand for people using that flag to promote racism. Our current flag is beautiful, salute it, defend it, and fly it in front of your home not just on 4th of July, but everyday. I've never watched Dukes of Hazard, but banning the show because a car has the flag seems a bit overboard to me. Shoot I was listening to Lynyrd Skynyrd the other day (greatest hits track) not because I have an agenda, but because I like the music. I honestly felt bad because the CD cover had a confederate flag. My goodness, how embarrassing is that?
