Six Head Coaches Needed For Fall

The University of the Southwest in Hobbs is expanding their number of college sports programs from nine to fifteen. The six new head coaching jobs available will be in M&W Track & Field, M&W Cross Country and M&W Golf. The golf positions will be particularly attractive as the Rockwinds Community Links is nearing completion directly across the highway from USW. The golf course is an amazing facility that will even include electronically controlled carts that will stop them from going where they should not go. A three mile jogging trail has been enhanced surrounding the golf course which again is directly across the highway from USW and will be a nice asset for the runners and all athletes.

After these the next college sports to be added at USW would be M&W Swimming & Diving. The new sports and fitness center will start construction in a few weeks and it will house a large water sports complex including a competition facility. It was specifically designed to host HHS, NMJC and USW teams. That facility is also near to USW. Anyone interested in any of the coaching positions for this fall should contact USW as they have announced a nationwide search. It would be nice for some New Mexico coaches to get those jobs.

Hobbs Ranked #74 in the Nation

That is impressive, and i'm still waiting on all the people that were criticizing the Hobbs Eagles this season. They have pretty much been silent and snuck out of the back door, just like the Cleveland fan's sitting next to me during the trophy presentation. We told you so guys, we told you all season. Ahh, feels damn good to be a Hobbs Eagle!

NMPreps Challenge - Thoughts?

Thinking about reaching out to NM HS Football Coaches now about a summer idea I've always had. Let's call it the NMPreps Challenge. Visit 30-40 schools this summer and have a mini combine at each school.

The day I show up, we test the athletes in the 40, 20-yard shuttle, broad jump, and bench press. We take top 10 scores and provide a leaderboard throughout the summer. The top 10 from each school also are invited to the NMPreps.com Elite Combine (details to follow soon).

Thoughts? I did this on the national level in 2006 in Texas when I worked for Nike/SPARQ. It was a great on-going event with tons of coverage.

Thoughts or idea enhancements?
