CAPSULES
(1) Hope Christian (Record: 10-0, 3-0): The Hope Christian Huskies earned their first number seed after posting a perfect 10-0 record and 3-0 in district. The Huskies are led by quarterback Nick Henry who has tossed for over 1,500 yards on the season.

(2) Dexter Demons (Record: 8-2, 3-0): The Dexter Demons enter the post season on a three game win streak through their district championship. The Demons hold signature wins over Santa Rosa, Hatch Valley and 3A State teams - Tularosa (9) and New Mexico Military (10). Quarterback Jarren Armaro, 2019, has passed for 1,598 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season.

(3) Socorro Warriors (Record: 9-1, 3-0): After a winning a district championship on Friday Night the Socorro Warriors earned the 3-seed in the 2018 bracket. The Warriors hold signature wins over 3A State playoff teams - Cobre and Hatch Valley along with 2A Tularosa. Maxamus Jaramillo, 2020, leads the way for the Warriors defense.

(4) St. Michael's Horsemen (Record: 6-4, 3-1): After an 0-3 start to the season the St. Michael's Horsemen went 3-1 and won the 2-3A District Championship (via tie breaker). The Horsemen have a signature win over 3A State playoff team Robertson (5). Look for the senior duo between Dominic Morgan, QB, and Luke Kastendieck, WR in the post season.

(5) Robertson Cardinals (Record: 8-2, 3-1): The Robertson Cardinals enter the post season as winners of 6 of the final 7 games. The Cardinals hold signature wins over West Las Vegas, Raton, and 3-seed Socorro. The Cardinals have four a duo in the backfield between Santiago Gonzales, 2019, and Antonio Padilla, 2020. Between the two of them they have over 1,000 rushing yards. QB Brandon Lucero has tossed for 970 yards on the season (9 games) and 14 touchdowns.

(6) West Las Vegas Dons (Record: 6-4, 3-1): The Dons are the third of the trio of CO-District Champs from 2-3A. The Dons enter the post season as winners of 5 of the final 6 games after a 1-3 start. The Dons have signature wins over St. Michael's, Hatch Valley, and Raton. Darion Williams, 2019, and Antonio Bustamante, 2019, lead the way in the backfield for the Dons along with QB John Balizan, 2020, who has passed for 1,868-yards on the season.

(7) Hatch Valley Bears (Record: 5-5, 2-1): The Hatch Valley Bears earned a 7-seed after winning four of the final five games. They hold key wins over Silver, Tularosa and Estancia. The Bears are led by Juan Chairez, 2019, who holds an offer from Western New Mexico University.

(8) Zuni Thunderbirds (Record: 7-3, 4-0): The Zuni Thunderbirds earned their best seed in program history after winning the 1-3A District Championship. Zuni is winners of six of their final eight games heading into the post season. Joey Gia Jr. leads the way for the Thunderbirds as they host a first-round game.

(9) Tularosa Wildcats (Record: 5-5, 2-1). The Tularosa Wildcats are winners of three of the final five games as they enter the post season. The Wildcats have a win over playoff teams NMMI and Lordsburg. Traiton Griffin, 2020, leads the way for the Wildcats with over 600-yards rushing and 700-yards passing this season.

(10) New Mexico Military Institute Colts (Record: 6-4, 1-2): The Colts had a key five game win streak to open the season but hope to carry their end of the season win over Tucumcari Rattlers into the postseason after dropping three of the final four. Jalil Brown, 2019, leads the way for the Colts out of the backfield.

(11) Cobre Indians (Record: 3-7, 1-2): The Cobre Indians enter the post season with three wins and key end of the season win over Hot Springs to put them into State. The schedule does feature playoff teams Santa Teresa, Robertson, Silver, Deming, Hatch Valley, and Socorro.

(12) Raton Tigers (Record: 5-5, 1-3): With the final at-large bid in the State 3A bracket the Raton Tigers enter the postseason. Aden Vanderwater, 2019, leads the way for the Raton Tigers this season with over 1,000 yards passing and 800 yards rushing.

TEAM VIEWS

(1) St. Pius X Sartans (Record: 7-3 Overall, 5-0 District): The St. Pius X Sartans won 5-straight to end the season and seven of the final eight games on their way to earn the 1-seed. The signature wins for the Sartans are wins over Portales (2), Taos (3) and Kirtland Central (4). Key player to keep an eye on this post season for the Sartans is quarterback Derek Rivera, 2020. (2) Portales Rams (Record: 7-3 Overall, 3-0 District): The Portales Rams are entering the playoffs on a 5-game winning streak outscoring opponents 244 to 27. The Rams have key wins over Lovington (6), Dexter, and St. Michael's. Julian Urioste, 2019, the quarterback for the Rams is one to watch after passing for 1,352-yards and rushing for another 876-yards this season. Head Coach: Jaime Ramirez

(3) Taos Tigers (Record: 8-1 Overall, 4-1 District): A record type of season for the Taos Tigers winning 8-games and and starting the season 6-0. The Tigers have key wins over St. Michael's, Aztec, and Grants this season. Running back Jonathan Garcia, 2019, has rushed for over 1,100 yards this season as he will lead the Tigers into the playoffs. Head Coach: Art Abreau.

(4) Kirtland Central Broncos (Record: 7-3 Overall, 3-0 District): The Kirtland Central Broncos enter the playoffs on a seven game winning streak after starting the season 0-3. The Broncos hold key wins over Piedra Vista, Aztec and Bloomfield. One key player to watch during the playoffs is quarterback Brock Dowdy, 2020. Head Coach: Greg Jenks.

(5) Bloomfield Bobcats (Record: 6-4 Overall, 2-1 District): The Bloomfield Bobcats earned the 5-seed in the playoffs on a final night win over Aztec, 27-14 to finish second in district 1-5A. The Bobcats also hold wins over St. Michael's and Montezuma-Cortez, CO. The Bobcats are led by quarterback Rogelio Gonzales who has 1,996 passing yards (7 games) and 16 passing touchdowns this season. Head Coach: Bob Allcorn.

(6) Lovington Wildcats (Record: 5-4 Overall, 2-1 District): The Lovington Wildcats enter the playoffs after finishing second in district 4-4A. The Wildcats hold wins over playoff teams Ruidoso and Moriarty. Casey Perez, 2020, leads the way for the Wildcats; the quarterback has 1,830 yards passing and 16 passing touchdowns this season. Head Coach: Anthony Gonzales

(7) Grants Pirates (Record: 8-2 Overall, 3-2 District): The Grants Pirates enter the playoffs as winners of four of the final five games. This is one of the lowest seeds during the modern format for the State Playoffs (2005). The Pirates key wins are over playoff teams Bernalillo and Zuni. Running back Isaiah Johnson, 2020, leads the way out of the backfield. Head Coach: Rio Thompson.

(8) Ruidoso Warriors (Record: 6-4 Overall, 1-2 District): The Ruidoso Warriors, the 4A state champions in 2017, look to defend their title from the 8-seed this postseason. The Warriors started the season 5-1 and have key wins over Silver, Moriarty, and Hatch Valley. Gabriel Dorame (2019), Layson Powell (2020), and Grant Oberheu (2021), lead one of the top receiving cores in the classification. All three have over 500-yards receiving this season for a combined 16 total touchdowns. Head Coach: Kief Johnson

(9) Aztec Tigers (Record: 5-5 Overall, 1-2 District): The Aztec Tigers winners of 4 of the final 6 games enter the post season on the road as they travel to Ruidoso (8). The Tigers hold a key win over St. Pius X (1). The Tigers are led by 2,000 yard passing quarterback Zach Taylor a senior this season. Head Coach: Matthew Steinfeldt

(10) Silver Colts (Record: 5-5 Overall, 1-2 District): The Silver Colts have enter the post season after playing in a 5A district. The Colts started the season 5-1 with key wins over Cobre, Bowie (TX), and Round Valley (AZ). Key player to watch is Nathaniel Lucero who leads the defense for the Colts this season. Head Coach: Raul Diaz.

(11) Bernalillo Spartans (Record: 6-4 Overall, 2-3 District): The Bernalillo Spartans finish over .500 this season and have experience a record breaking season start the season 5-0. The Spartans have Damian Gutierrez (2019) who has passed for 1,273-yards this season along with 19 passing touchdowns. Head Coach: John Cabos

(12) Moriarty Pintos (Record: 3-7 Overall, 0-3 District): The Moriarty Pintos will travel to Bloomfield during the first round to face former head coach Bob Allcorn. The Pintos have schedule with top teams Kirtland Central, Portales and Ruidoso this season. Xavier Romero leads the way out of the backfield with 767-yards. Head Coach: Joseph Anaya.

Los Lunas and Belen will battle for the district championship with their contest today. Also, Los Lunas, with the win, could climb in the 5A bracket placement and not only secure a bye into the quarterfinals. Belen could play up to around the 5-seed with a win today.

Manzano gets a last tune up against Albuquerque in a non-district game. Espanola and Pojoaque get Valley bragging rights today. Miyamura and Highland get to leave the season with a win, both are at 1-8. Rio Grande and Shiprock will have the chance to end on a good note as well. Hope Christian will be 1 of 5 left undefeated teams in New Mexico (6A-2A), the only in 3A.
