Music in the weightroom

Here is (I think) a good debate topic. I have seen many weight rooms and most if not all have loud music playing. These days it seems rap is the most common but hard rock still is around.
I have to take the minority side. I feel music is a hindrance.
1. It inhibits coaching - form - communication with athletes and among athletes
2. The claim music "pumps me up" is bogus. If you can't play football without Ozzy Osborne, something is wrong.
3. It is a distraction. We all have seen students(in class even) with earbuds claiming, "it helps me focus.' It does not.
4. The music chosen is often in direct contrast to what we are teaching. I am not a music snob but what is the message in the rap you have playing in the weight room? How about the message Black Sabbath is sending?
If you are pro-music in the weight room, how much coaching is going on during these work-outs? What message is being sent? Many coaches and athletes that I respect swear by music, but would they not have been successful if there weren't giant speakers in the weight room?
