NM Kid on US U20MNT

Props to New Mexico product Aaron Herrera out of Las Cruces for being selected to the U20 National Team. Aaron currently plies his trade at UNM.

For those running his name through their minds...Aaron left Las Cruces to attend the RSL Academy in Arizona and did not play high school ball in NM.

Who does everyone have? Who is all going? I've heard Marsha Sharp, Candi Whitaker , along with many other big names among the state and west Texas will be there. Should be a very packed house with both teams at one point and time in the top 50 in the nation according to Maxpreps. Maxpreps now has Carlsbad ranked 47th and Hobbs ranked 76th in the nation. Both coaches have a very strong run at both the NM coach of the year and a state title.. should be a good one!!!

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan football program announced Monday (Jan. 23) a special educational and football experience for its student-athletes, with a week of learning and spring practice in Rome.

Michigan Football will travel to Rome, Italy, after finals toward the end of winter semester in April for an extraordinary life experience during the spring practice season. The players and staff will use three of the allotted 15 spring football practices in Rome, training at AS Roma, the professional Italian football (soccer) club in the city.

During the trip to Rome, the Wolverines will be immersed in the culture of Italy. The team will visit historic landmarks, spend time with youth at orphanages, and visit deployed U.S. military in the country amongst other team activities. The experience will culminate with a youth clinic, and the team will play a scrimmage that will be open to the Italian public.

Conference Talk & Enrollments

I know that this is a semi-trending topic over in the football forum. I just want to bring it over here to look at it in a soccer perspective and cut out some of the background noise.

@El Muchacho posted a great resource on enrollment numbers and @ANR1 made a great update using the two year enrollments. When someone posted about the predicted "conferences" this is where I got lost.

Are conferences supposed to be the new "districts" just larger in number and closer in geography? But then these conferences are to be somehow desegregated back down into classes (5A, 4A, etc)?

This might be a good thing for football and other sports, but in soccer what if Chaparral boys win their conference? They would just get a higher 4A seed? Would they be considered for the 5A tournament? I think I know the answer, I just want to make sure that someone will provide the reassurance.
