24. West Las Vegas (7-2)
25. St. Pius X (6-2)

Best Game on Tuesday: Los Lunas vs Santa Fe. This best game to watch puts two of the top programs in their classification.

Rival Game: #12 Artesia hosts #16 Carlsbad. Looking for rivalry game this tonight, it has to be the gym that will feature orange and blue for a good rivalry between two ranked teams.

Northern Game: #9 Capital vs St. Mikes. Two programs that are run so well, could become a chess match.

Cross Class Game: #15 Clovis vs #22 Portales. Both are the biggest, early, question mark teams but they get the chance to notch a quality win.

Seed Implications: Socorro vs Taos. This one could have some say come March and a win could help get a better seed or a seed at all.

Player Who Is Killing It: Brenden Boatwright (Carlsbad). Boatwright had the top week in week 5 with a 40 and 39 point game.

Intrigued. Shiprock vs Laguna-Acoma. This game has some headliners in it, both teams are in the middle tier this season but be prepared for a clash in a packed house at LA.

Under-the-radar Game: Robertson vs Santa Rosa. This one could turn some heads and might be one to keep a close eye on.

Need a Resume Win. Gallup vs Piedra Vista. PV suffered a tough loss last week, Gallup has played a brutal schedule.

Intriguing Game: Roswell vs Alamogordo. Keep an eye here tonight. Roswell is darn good this year, Alamogordo is only getting better. If you have spare change this could be worth the gamble on a upset.

Young Gun to Watch: Zanen Zeller (Los Lunas). The sophomore is playing well this season and this could be a statement game for the PTP.

Alex Morgan to Lyon, France

Woke up to find that USWNT Forward Alex Morgan will be "loaned" out to Lyon for the spring/summer months.

After reading her viewpoint in the article linked below, this opens up a whole bunch of questions/issues that US Soccer will need to address. She mentions the new collective bargaining agreement that has yet to be ironed out between the WNT players and US Soccer. I think US Soccer somehow requires players to play in the NWSL in order to play on the NT.

She mentions competing against the toughest/best players, is that a reflection of the quality, or lack there of, in the NWSL? What happens if the allure of playing in Europe causes her to stay or want to stay in Europe?

She mentions learning new things and a way of playing? Is that an indictment on the stagnation on the womens game in the US?

This will be a good thing to follow in early 2017

Class 6A: Questions We Ask & Answer for 2017

Class 6A: Questions We Ask & Answer for 2017

With the season complete, we look to the 2017 football season and look for some answers to tough questions that we have.

1. Tougher Job: Rio Grande or Santa Fe?

History: I am not to sure this is a debate either team could win. This is how we give the point to Santa Fe, the had a playoff appearance most recently. Santa Fe has a title in 1979 but 30-plus years ago might not be the best indicator to get athletes out.

Region: This too is hard to tackle but if you see some success that Santa Fe area programs (Capital, St. Michael's) have had you lean towards Santa Fe with the upper hand. Also, Rio Grande has just endured one of the newer schools in the Metro area taking several of the athletes.

Recent Records (3-years): Rio Grande (1-28: 26-game losing streak). Santa Fe (4-26; 24-game losing streak).

Answer: The tougher job, if I had to pick is Rio Grande but neither is in a winnable situation without help. Both head coaches are classy coaches and love their programs but help is needed outside their reach. The reason I settle on Rio Grande is because it's not for a lack of athletes just not coming out (I believe Santa Fe has athletes that opt to not play football) whereas Rio Grande just lacks athletes altogether. The administration in my opinion doesn't seem to be jumping to help preserve and build the Pride of the Valley that was once a thing. Head coach Sam Mascanares at Rio Grande is in a tough spot but if I had to bet on a man (coach) it would be him.

2. Should the Ravens and Demons go Independent?

Okay, I am all for the notion that if you want to win, get better. Sometimes to get better you also need some help along that way and in a world that everyone wants to win and win now has an opinion as easy with a social network. No longer do we support the hard working coach that is doing it the right way.

My answer is not an answer that is likely as it is unlikely logistically and financially but here is the chance for wishful thinking. Looking at the recent history and some teams that could use some help why not schedule games in your level? This is not the NCAA where you get money for playing mercy rule games so try, fight or bring the conversation (that's why I am doing) to bring a schedule of games that could help put some coal in the train for some programs to put in a winning situation.

Weeks 1
Rio Grande vs Santa Fe
Gadsden vs Highland

Week 2
Highland vs Santa Fe
Rio Grande vs Gadsden

Week 3 (6A/5A)
Rio Grande vs Gallup
Santa Fe vs Deming

Is this the right answer, maybe not. However, it is a measuring stick against programs that are in the same situation so that we can grade and measure correctly. Never should we want a program to be on a 20 plus losing streak without trying to find out if someone could help (schedule)

3. Who is the best head football coach in New Mexico?

We ask and ask this question over and over without a clear answer because most of the time it is subjective answer. How can we properly answer this question that is asked to us? Well, I will have an answer that won't be agree with and that is okay with me - you shouldn't agree with me if you are smart. Do we go with the head coach that does more with less or the one who has more and stays on par or what about the coach that has more and does more (can that happen?). What about the coach that has less or nothing and still fights like hell (read above)?

Pulling off the band-aid my answer is David Howes the head coach of the Rio Rancho Rams. Looking for a way to answer I looked at current record (past three years) and Howes is 33-4 with two perfect seasons. Looking at titles he has 2. Yes, we all discuss the fact about athletes in the area. Yes, you say look at the resources - I agree. However, I think to answer the debate on athletes, Howes runs one hell of a program and develops these athletes into the players they become by the time they play their last game. Resources, yes they have the right AD and administration in general. II say so do others have very supportive AD's and administration and the results don't mimic that of Howes.

Here is my break down of top head coaches and yes ranked because I know we all avoid this answer but for the sake of argument here is my top 5. If you are pulling my arm to pick/rank. Winning is in the conversation, building a program, stability, recent success, titles, history, development. I sort of mix it all in for an answer that will get crushed.

1. Howes
2. Michael Bradley (Mayfield)
3. Aaron Ocampo (Centennial)
4. Heath Ridenour (Cleveland)
5. Eric Roanhaus (Clovis)
