Just received confirmation Thomas Adams the junior to be received his first offer from Adams State. They were at all his games out in Phoenix at Section 7.

2022 Record: 5-6 overall, 2-3 district
2022 Post Season: First Round

Best Case Scenario: 6-4 overall. The famous coin flip schedule. The Alamogordo Tigers achieved highs last season and finished 5-5 during the regular season earning a playoff bid. The adjustment this season was the addition of Silver on opening night, a game that will challenge them but a game that they are favored in. The 5 regular season losses came at the hands of Los Lunas (43-30), Riverside TX (35-21), Carlsbad (47-37), Hobbs (47-3), and Centennial (42-17). They'll look to flip one of those games in order to get over the .500 mark. The game with the best chances will be Carlsbad, a team on its third head coach in as many years.

Worst Case Scenario: 3-7 overall. The losing end of those coin flips games. Las Cruces was a huge win for the Tigers in '22, on the road. They get that game at home this season and making it two in a row with help getting back into the playoffs. The district continues to improve with Centennial at the top but 2-5 is for the taking with Hobbs currently in that seat. The Tigers have some key positions to fill but they have enough to make another run this season.

2022 Post Season: 4A State Champions

Best Case Scenario: 10-0 overall. Last season they dropped a mid-season game against Silver High School, in Socorro. They eventually redeem that loss in the state championship game winning the 4A title. The Bobcats will need to fill some voids but they are in position to make another run at 9/10 wins this regular season.

Worst Case Scenario: 7-3 overall. The Bobcats are favored in every game heading into the '23 season. Three games are currently are in the favorite/coin flip, how we get three losses for the worst case scenario. As mentioned Silver gave the Bobcats their only loss last season and will again challenge although Bloomfield is favored. Academy dropped a close 17-14 loss at home and Bayfield (CO) lost 28-12 giving the Bobcats their only challenges throughout the season. The Bobcats won the other 7 games by 40 points plus or by mercy rule.

2022 Post Season: 3A State Champs

Best Case Scenario: 10-0 overall. The Warriors are in transition with longtime head coach Kief Johnson retiring this off-season. The program went 9-1 during the regular season in '22 and the schedule will favor making another run at 8-10 wins again. They do need to replace key players from last season and have a new head coach. 10 wins is a reach but it is the ceiling, if we are staying true to the nature of the feature. Portales was the lone loss last season and will again be a force in '23. Robertson is a 3A contender and will provide a challenge this season. The good news for the Warriors will be hosting Portales and Robertson at home this season.

Worst Case Scenario: 8-2 overall. The Warriors outscored opponents 444 to 115 last season and the schedule allows for them to reach 8-wins. Depending on the reaction to a new head coach and filling voids left from graduation, they could be one of the teams that could go under their "worst case scenario". Normally that goes against the rules of the feature. However, 8 is a high floor, and it will be a wait and see situation.

Best Case Scenario: 8-2 overall. Can they make it 8-wins again in 2023? The Volcano Vista Hawks have question marks that includes replacing a top-three quarterback from last season. The good news is that Volcano Vista tends to reload and replace. They are favored or in coin flip situations in 8-games this fall. The three openers will be tough games despite being favored and could change closer to the season. West Mesa and Atrisco Heritage although are CF lean heavy to VV.

Worst Case Scenario: 5-5 overall. The Hawks are a .500 or better team despite replacing Paskett-Bell (QB last season). The Hawks are not shy on talent and numbers though and have continued to develop solid players. 5 wins is the floor but I would take the over on it. The big question could be challenging the top tier squads La Cueva and Cleveland, can they get over the hill in '23?

2022 Record: 7-5 overall, 1-2 district

Best Case Scenario: 7-3 overall. Transition. The Chargers graduate a very talented class and will also welcome in a new head coach this Fall. During the regular season the Chargers went 6-4 overall falling to Bloomfield, Capital, Portales, and Lovington. The same teams are on tap this year as a possible underdog/coin flip.

Worst Case Scenario: 3-7 overall. The three openers favor the Chargers. Last season they opened 3-0 against the same group, winning by a combined score of 92-7. Three shifts that could swing them into losses from wins last season are Los Alamos, St. Pius X, and Bernalillo. Pius kept it interesting while Bernalillo lost by a combined 4 points in two games -- they had a 7-6 loss in the first round of the state tournament.

Scoop: The Wildcats are coming off back-to-back 3-win seasons. This will be the second year under head coach Andrew McCraw and the Cats are looking to make improvements. The best/worst case scenario have the Cats the max at 5 wins and the low at 2 wins. Meaning they have 5 games that they are either favored in or in a coin flip situation, it would take them two games above the 3.5 number.

2022 Record: 5-5 overall, 2-2 district

Best Case Scenario: 9-1 overall. This would be historic, if the Mustangs can get to 9-wins. The Mustangs have plenty of promise coming into the season with D1 recruit Elijah Brody making plays at QB. The Mustangs have four true favorite games and five coin flip games. Looking at the five losses from last season -- Volcano Vista (50-20), Cibola (35-28), Atrisco (59-54), Farmington (48-41), and La Cueva (89-62) -- only two were losses by double-digits. Settling closer to 7 is an ideal number but sticking true to the feature 9 wins would be the best case scenario.

Worst Case Scenario: 4-6 overall. Similar to the best case scenario, the Mustangs have too much returning to drop to only 4 wins this season. It would be a major let down to high expectations. They have a handful of CF games that could swing the season in a sort of make or break season.
