Looks like the Mountain West Conference is going to follow the "Big 5 Power Conferences" in paying there players, err... giving a cost of attendance allowance. Good article below on a comparison between the MWC and Pac 12.

How Many NM High School Players have went college, then pro?

My son was recently asked if he might consider "green shirting.". I wasn't familiar with the term and had to go look it up.

"Green shirt is a relatively new term and is applied to that high school
senior that forgoes his spring semester in high school to enroll in
college in January."

The advantages are that they get another semester out of a scholarship getting a head start on taking classes, settling in to the college environment and starting the football routine as well as participating in the spring practices and game ahead of the fall recruits that will come in in June.

The disadvantages are, they will have to speed up there high school graduation requirements (possible summer classes), would have to forgo winter and spring high school sports, and miss out on senior activities such as prom and maybe even graduation day.

The NCAA-related committee - the
Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA), which consists of the 32
commissioners of Division I in June will be considering and voting on a 72-hour early signing period beginning on Dec. 16, along with the football's regular signing period in February.

Got an e-mail from the higher ups last week. New Message boards are hitting the Main Board (Main Rivals.com) site this Wednesday. If all goes well Rivals will release new message boards next monday. I hate to provide timelines, but this was the latest update I was given.

What are some thoughts on re-seeding during the first two rounds of the State Championship tournament?

Is this something that would gain traction or would most be opposed to it?

My thoughts:

If the early 1st round holds true then the bracket should line up as planned (1v8, 2v7, 3v6, 4v5). If this happens then no re-seeding needed. BUT as we all know sometimes a 10 beats 7 or 11 beats 6.

At that point it might make sense to reseed so that the #1 seed faces the lowest remaining seed and then all others fall into place. Why should #1 play #8, if #2 gets to play #10???

Does that diminish the value of having the best seed if your route becomes "harder" through the bracket while its possible for seeds 2-4 have an 'easier" path?

By the time the 1st round is done, all teams travel to Albuquerque anyways so there is no travel or other restrictions to impede the reseeding?

I know that the MLS, NHL, and NFL reseed. No other soccer league even has a tournament at the end of their season so its hard to make a soccer-soccer comparison.

Any thoughts???
