2A BASEBALL - MAY 8TH

#5 McCurdy 9, #12 Mescalero Apache 5 - Final: The Mescalero Apache Chiefs made a strong push, scoring three runs in the third inning. However, McCurdy quickly responded with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third, maintaining a tight 4-3 score midway through the game. Yet, the Bobcats swiftly extinguished any hopes of an upset, exploding for 5 runs in the fourth inning en route to a decisive 9-5 victory and a ticket to the quarterfinals. Junior Celestino Salazar-Archuleta led the offensive charge with three hits, two RBIs, and an impressive three runs, including two triples. Senior Thomas Bolton contributed significantly with three hits, two RBIs, and two runs. Junior Carlos Garcia added to the onslaught with three RBIs, two hits, a double, a triple, and a run. Garcia also showcased his talent on the mound, pitching 5 innings and tallying seven strikeouts. For the Chiefs, sophomore Anthony Yuzos made notable contributions with two hits, an RBI, a triple, and two runs.

No. 6 Eunice 8, #11 Capitan 2 - Final: After two scoreless innings, the Cardinals ignited their offense with a run in the bottom of the first inning, followed by an impressive 4-run surge in the fourth inning, propelling them into the quarterfinals. Senior Kevin Garcia led the offensive charge with three hits and two RBIs, while fellow senior Braelon Jeter contributed two hits and two RBIs of his own. The Cardinals showcased their depth as six players crossed home plate, with senior Billy Blevins and sophomore Dyson Lord crossing it twice each in the victory. Blevins demonstrated his prowess on the mound, pitching a complete seven innings with 10 strikeouts.

No. 7 Rehoboth Christian 5, #10 Laguna-Acoma 2 - Final: The opening round saw a rematch between district opponents, with Laguna-Acoma aiming for an upset mindset. They took an early 2-0 lead after the first inning, but the Lynx rallied to secure a 5-2 victory with consistent hitting. Sophomore Jonathan Zylstra led the charge with 2 hits, an RBI, and a run, while sophomore Trajen West contributed a hit, RBI, and run. Junior Zach Van Drunen added a hit and 2 RBIs. On the mound, senior Raeden West pitched all 7 innings, tallying 6 strikeouts. Despite the effort, the Hawks fell short, with junior Patrick Smith notching a hit and a run, and fellow junior Curtis Paytiamo recording a hit and a double.

No. 8 Texico 13, No. 9 Pecos 12 - Final: The opening round brought forth excitement, particularly in the 8-9 matchup, where the Texico Wolverines scored two crucial runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to secure a thrilling 13-12 victory over the Pecos Panthers. Pecos had initially taken a 5-0 lead heading into the bottom of the third inning before Texico exploded for 8 runs. However, Pecos fought back with a 5-run inning in the top of the fourth. The game remained tight until Pecos took a 12-11 lead in the top of the 7th, but Texico rallied to close out the game in dramatic fashion. Junior Edgar Mendoza led the Wolverines' offensive charge with an impressive performance, tallying 4 hits, 4 runs, 3 RBIs, a double, and a triple. Sophomore Hunter Bowman contributed with 3 hits, a run, and 3 RBIs, while sophomore Jesus Chavez added 2 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI. On the mound, senior Easton Cooper pitched 3.1 innings and recorded 3 strikeouts, supported by seniors Kyle Gonser and Daltyn Cain

1A BASEBALL - MAY 8TH

#3 Melrose 19, #6 Magdalena 0 - Final:
Despite expectations for a close contest, the Melrose Buffaloes dominated from the start, securing an early lead with a 3-run bottom of the first inning and maintaining control throughout the game. They continued their offensive onslaught with 2 runs in the 2nd inning, 2 in the 3rd, before sealing the victory with an impressive 12-run 4th inning. Senior Dathan Yeary and junior Cy Draper showcased their power with home runs, with Yeary contributing 4 hits, 3 runs, and 6 RBIs, while Draper added 2 hits, 3 RBIs, a double, and 2 runs. Senior Mike Cardonita also made significant contributions with 2 hits, 4 runs, and 3 RBIs, including a double. Additionally, Cardonita delivered a stellar performance on the mound, pitching all 5 innings and recording 10 strikeouts to secure the win for Melrose.

#5 Grady 14, #4 Mesilla Valley 2 - Final: In a upset, the 5th seed Grady Bronchos delivered a commanding performance on the road, securing an early lead with a remarkable 6-run burst in the top of the first inning and maintaining control throughout the game. Freshman Andre Garcia led the offensive charge with three hits and an RBI, supported by fellow freshman Caden Croy who contributed 2 hits, an RBI, and 3 runs. Senior Zane Rush also made significant contributions with 2 hits, a double, and 2 runs. Rush showcased his prowess on the mound, pitching all five innings and tallying an impressive 13 strikeouts. Despite the loss, Mesilla Valley's Jeremiah Sullivan, a junior, delivered a commendable performance with 2 hits and 2 runs.

These showcases are designed to give any uncommitted 2024 - 2026 graduates the opportunity to be evaluated by many different regional colleges.

Each showcase will include two different instructional sessions for the players as well as a question-and-answer session with college coaches for parents/families in attendance.

The showcase will conclude each day with scrimmage games in front of college recruiting coaches.

MONDAY, APRIL 29TH

Chaparral 7, Silver 3 - Final (4A):
Chaparral capitalized on two significant innings, scoring 3 runs in both the bottom of the 1st and the bottom of the 6th, paving the way for a 7-3 district victory over Silver. Chris Torres Jr. (2025) delivered an outstanding performance with 4 hits, 2 runs, 3 RBIs, including a crucial triple and a powerful home run. Sophomore Israel Nieto contributed to the Chaparral Lobos' win with 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and a run. Both players showcased their speed with 2 stolen bases each. Senior Luis Ramos played a crucial role on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings and recording an impressive 9 strikeouts to secure the victory.

Deming 8, Santa Teresa 7 - Final (4A): Santa Teresa stormed ahead with early runs, leading 4-0 after two innings. Despite Santa Teresa's initial dominance, Deming clawed their way back into the game, scoring consistently to narrow the gap. In a tense matchup that stretched into extra innings, Deming secured the win with a decisive run in the bottom of the 8th inning. Senior Jaydon Carbajal played a pivotal role for Deming with two hits, an RBI, and a run scored, while junior Jose Duran contributed significantly with two hits, an RBI, and a double. Deming utilized two pitchers, senior Bryan Garcia and freshman Eric Mariscal, both tallying 5 strikeouts each. Despite the loss, Santa Teresa's sophomore Gavin Garcia showcased his prowess with 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and a run scored.

Eunice 10, Texico 7 - Final (2A): Texico surged ahead with a 3-run inning in the top of the 1st, but Eunice turned the tide with a commanding 7-run inning in the bottom of the 5th, securing a hard-fought victory. Luis Gomez (2025) led the charge for the Cardinals, showcasing his all-around skill with 2 hits, 2 runs, and 3 RBIs, while also swiping 2 bases. Senior Braelon Jeter made significant contributions both at the plate and on the mound, adding a hit, 2 RBIs, and a double to his name. Jeter also excelled as a pitcher, tallying 6 strikeouts over 4 innings pitched.

TUESDAY, APRIL 30TH
Albuquerque Academy 6, Bernalillo 4 - Final:
Albuquerque Academy Secures District 6-4A Title with a 6-4 Victory. In a crucial matchup on Tuesday night, the Albuquerque Academy Chargers clinched the District 6-4A championship with a hard-fought win over the Bernalillo Spartans on the road. Junior Andrew Olson led the offensive charge for the Chargers with 2 hits, but the highlight of the game came from two powerful home runs, one by junior EJ Gallardo and the other by sophomore Ryan Williams, who also contributed 3 RBIs. However, the spotlight belonged to junior Matthew Delaney, who delivered a remarkable pitching performance, going the distance with all 7 innings and an impressive 15 strikeouts. Despite the loss, freshman Ulisses Castro managed 2 hits for Bernalillo, while sophomore Andrew Hernandez-Carrillo showcased his skills with a hit, run, triple, and 2 RBIs, adding to the Spartans' efforts.

Centennial 13, Las Cruces 6 - Final: Centennial Soars Past Las Cruces in District Showdown. In a crucial District 3-5A clash, the Centennial Hawks secured a commanding 13-6 victory over crosstown rivals Las Cruces. The game saw a remarkable fourth inning surge from Centennial, where they piled on an impressive 13 runs to take control of the matchup. Junior Aidan Renteria led the offensive charge for the Hawks, finishing with 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and a run. Sophomore Gilberto Torres contributed significantly with a hit, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs, while another sophomore, Chase Sanchez, added a hit and a run to bolster Centennial's offensive onslaught. On the mound, senior Hudson Harrison delivered a solid performance, tallying 5 strikeouts over 5 innings pitched to anchor the Hawks' victory. Las Cruces' senior Zakye Hawkins put up a valiant effort for the Bulldawgs, finishing with 3 hits, 2 runs, 2 RBIs, and a home run in the contest.

East Mountain 4, Sandia Prep 0 - Final: East Mountain Shuts Out Sandia Prep to Bolster Playoff Aspirations. In a crucial matchup for playoff positioning, the East Mountain Timberwolves secured a convincing 4-0 victory over the Sandia Prep Sundevils. The win helps East Mountain solidify their position in the hunt for a top-four seed. Sophomore Charles Birdwell led the offensive charge for the Timberwolves, tallying 3 hits, a run, and a double in the victory. Junior Rylan Radosevich also made significant contributions with 2 hits, including an RBI, a run, and a triple. Senior Logan Aucker delivered an exceptional performance both at the plate and on the mound, contributing 2 hits, including a double, while also pitching a complete game shutout with an impressive 16 strikeouts over 7 innings.

Highland 5, Valencia 4 - Final: Highland Stuns Valencia with 5-4 Victory. In a remarkable upset, the Highland Hornets secured their first district win with a narrow 5-4 triumph over the Valencia Jaguars. Junior Eric Tennison led the charge with an impressive performance, tallying 2 hits, a run, an RBI, and a double in the winning effort. Sophomore Davi Shima contributed significantly with 2 hits and 1 RBI, while junior Xavier Platero showcased his skills with 2 hits and 2 runs. Additionally, sophomore Miguel Leyba made notable contributions with 2 hits, 2 runs, and an RBI. Tennison also impressed on the mound, pitching all 7 innings and recording 5 strikeouts to seal the victory for Highland.

Organ Mountain 7, Mayfield 0 - Final: Organ Mountain Secures Shutout Victory Over Mayfield. In a dominant display on the diamond, Organ Mountain emerged victorious with a resounding 7-0 win against Mayfield. Senior Nate Leyva contributed significantly to the offensive effort, tallying 2 hits on the day. Senior Matthew Hall made his presence felt with a hit, 2 runs scored, an RBI, and a double, while sophomore Ryo Rivera added a hit, 2 RBIs, and a run to bolster Organ Mountain's lead. On the mound, senior Randy Bailey showcased his pitching prowess, going the distance with all 7 innings and recording an impressive 9 strikeouts to secure the shutout victory for Organ Mountain.

St. Michael's 10, Robertson 2 - Final: St. Michael's Dominates Robertson 10-2. The St. Michael's Horsemen showcased their offensive prowess in a commanding road victory over Robertson, edging closer to securing the District 2-3A title. Elijah Archuleta led the charge with a stellar performance, tallying 3 hits, a run, an RBI, and a double. Santiago Martinez also made significant contributions with 3 hits of his own, including 2 runs and 3 RBIs, accompanied by 2 doubles. Adding to the offensive onslaught, junior Sabiani Rios showcased his speed with 2 stolen bases. On the mound, Jackson Heath delivered a solid performance, pitching 4.2 innings and recording 4 strikeouts to anchor the Horsemen's dominant display.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 1ST
Hatch Valley 13, Socorro 2 - Final:
Hatch Valley Bears Dominate Socorro Warriors 13-2 in District 3-3A Clash. In Wednesday night's District 3-3A showdown, the Hatch Valley Bears delivered an emphatic performance, securing a commanding 13-2 victory over the Socorro Warriors. Junior Alan Ruiz emerged as a standout player for the Bears, contributing significantly with 3 hits, a run, an RBI, and a double. Additionally, Ruiz showcased his versatility by pitching 5 solid innings, tallying 3 strikeouts to clinch the win. Sophomore Juan Ruiz made his presence felt with 3 RBIs, a hit, and a run, while junior Franklin Williams added to the offensive onslaught with 2 RBIs, a triple, a hit, and a run.

Rehoboth Christian 17, Navajo Pine 1 - Final: Rehoboth Christian Dominates Navajo Pine with 17-1 Victory. In a commanding display of prowess, the Rehoboth Christian Lynx swept both games in their district matchup against the Navajo Pine Warriors. The second game showcased a dominant performance from the Lynx, as they erupted with a 12-run first inning, setting the tone for the game. Four players stood out with stellar offensive contributions, each earning three hits: Raeden West (2024), Trajen West (2026), Jonathan Zylstra (2026), and Jude Christensen (2026). Notably, West, Zylstra, and Christensen also tallied 3 RBIs each, with all four players crossing the plate multiple times. Adding to the offensive barrage, Michael Arsenault (2025) and Nehemiah Hardy (2024) went yard, both hit home runs. West, one of the two pitchers for the game, showcased his dominance on the mound with 6 strikeouts, further solidifying Rehoboth Christian's decisive victory.

THURSDAY, MAY 2ND

Goddard 7, Artesia 1 - Final:
The Goddard Rockets' offense remained relatively quiet until the top of the 6th inning, where they exploded for 6 runs to secure a decisive victory over the Artesia Bulldogs. Senior Ryan Alsup led the charge with 3 hits, contributing an RBI and run, while fellow senior Garrett Langley added 2 hits to the offensive effort. Ross Stokes also chipped in with a hit and 2 runs. On the mound, senior Tyler Conrad showcased his pitching prowess, going the distance with 4 strikeouts over 7 innings. For Artesia, junior Frankie Galindo recorded a hit and run, while sophomore Jack Byers impressed with a solid 5 innings pitched, tallying 5 strikeouts.

Ruidoso 6, Sandia Prep 2 - Final: The Warriors wasted no time asserting their dominance, putting up 3 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and maintaining their lead throughout the game to secure a district victory. Senior Gabriel Johnson led the offensive charge with 3 hits and 1 run, while junior Joel Ortega contributed 2 hits and a run. Sophomore Omar Guerrero made significant contributions with 2 hits, an RBI, a double, and a run. On the mound, senior Logan Sandoval delivered a stellar performance, pitching all 7 innings and recording 8 strikeouts.

Santa Teresa 21, Deming 11 - Final: The Santa Teresa Desert Warriors asserted their dominance with a commanding performance, scoring 9 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and following it up with 8 more runs in the bottom of the 6th to secure a 21-11 victory over district rival Deming. Senior Gabriel Heredia and sophomore Gavin Garcia led the offensive charge, each tallying 3 hits. Garcia also contributed 3 RBIs and a triple, while Heredia added 2 runs to the team's impressive display. In addition to his offensive prowess, Heredia showcased his pitching skills, lasting 5.2 innings on the mound and finishing with 4 strikeouts.

St. Michael's 6, Santa Fe Indian 5 - Final: In a crucial matchup to determine the District 2-3A champion, the St. Michael's Horsemen faced off against the Santa Fe Indian Braves in a doubleheader. After a narrow 7-6 loss in the first game, the Horsemen rallied in the second game to secure a 6-5 victory, clinching the district title. Jackson Heath, Sabiani Rios, and Michael Giesler led the offensive charge for St. Michael's, each contributing 2 hits. Giesler crossed the plate twice, while Rios notched a double, 2 RBIs, and 2 runs. On the mound, Lucas Stoll delivered a solid performance, pitching 6 innings and recording 7 strikeouts. Despite the loss, standout freshman Nathaniel Aguilar showcased his talent once again for the Santa Fe Indian Braves, tallying 2 hits, 2 runs, an RBI, and a double. Aguilar also impressed on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings and striking out 9 batters.
