Gatorade Player of the Year

Jaedyn De La Cerda was named Gatorade Player of the Year!! I can tell you I have never been around a kid that works as hard as she does. There isn't a day that this kid isn't working on improving her game. Lifting, playing, shooting, dribbling, you name it. It is a drive and passion that has been instilled in her from when she was younger. The support she has from home shows in the way she handles herself. She is a multisport athlete! I was honored to be a part of her career this year. Congratulations to her and to everyone that has had a part big or small in her development. But most importantly congratulations to Jaedyn she deserves this award for all the hard work she has put in!

NMPreps.com 2017 Football Tour

Last summer/preseason I did not do the NMPreps tour. I heard that was a fan favorite from multiple people. I hope to bring this back!

If you are a head coach, AD, assistant coach and want your program to be featured please shoot me a date that I could come by. Quick Q/A, couple highlights and maybe a tour of campus/football related rooms.

Fun for your players and opportunity to show your school!

Upcoming College Satellite Events (Down South)

The coaches down here have banded together and have secured 3 upcoming satellite events (fancy name) with three different collegiate programs.

As always these camps are open to all players from around the state(s), we include El Paso.

Saturday February 11th - Adams State Satellite Event ($20)
Chaparral Head Coach Hernandez has locked down the Adams State Mens coaching staff for a one day event this Saturday in Chaparral. We have confirmations from players as far away as Los Lunas & Deming, plus the local schools. Adams State hosts their own event in Alamosa for a fee of $150, for Coach Hernandez to score this for $20 is a great achievement. Players can pay as they arrive or register and pay online at this link: https://goo.gl/nX559Q

Saturday March 4th - Chandler-Gilbert, AZ Event
Santa Teresa and Centennial HS coaches teamed up and have secured the presence of the Chandler-Gilbert CC head coach for a one day event that will be held in Las Cruces. Chandler has been in the area before but this is a new head coach who is looking heavily for 2016 grads and this years 2017 grads. The best thing about this camp is that the coach will not be charging for this event.

Friday March 10th - Sunday March 13th - Trinidad State Event ($30)
Trinidad State has been the most reliable and loyal school to come down to our area, but they cant take every kid. With the new competition coming to the area, Trinidad State will be looking to bank on familiarity and the roots laid down over the past years to keep signing the best players in the area. The event will be held at Santa Teresa HS.

Please share with any coaches, parents, players, etc that you think would find this info useful. Send any questions to Santa Teresa Coach Villalobos at 915-227-9419

State tournament information

This article -- https://www.abqjournal.com/959433/nmaa-wants-to-avoid-tournament-ticket-increases.html -- mentions the following:

- The soccer state tournament brought in about $12,500 less than the year before (about a 20% drop), which the NMAA attributes to the $15K it had to pay to use the Bernalillo complex, terrible weather on Friday, and “the perception of going out to Bernalillo, versus the tournament being in Albuquerque.”

- The tournament will be in Bernalillo again next year, as the NMAA signed a two-year deal.

- For 2018 and beyond, the new Las Cruces complex is a possibility, as are the new fields going up just west of Nusenda Community Stadium in Albuquerque.
