7. Jensen Lewis, Cibola. Committed to UNM.

Player Rankings NMPreps.com's Top 3 Seniors That Need To Play College Basketball

NMPreps.com's Top 3 Seniors That Need To Play College Basketball
Joshua J Grine of NMPreps.com

The state tournament is over with and today we look at our Trifecta of seniors that should be college basketball players next season.

1. HOLT SHELLEY, 6'9'', Sr, F, Cliff High School

The 6-foot-9 Holt Shelley, is the unknown (for the most part), giant of 1A basketball. However, don't get caught up in the aspect of him being correlated with the notion that all small school players don't compare. Shelley, has a great shot, he was knocking down NBA threes before the game in warm ups, 21.5 points, 14 rebounds and 3 assists per game during the Cliff title run.

2. JORDAN LEAKE, 6'4, Sr, W, Hope Christian School

The lead Husky for the 4A basketball power is hands down one of the best players in the state of New Mexico. Again, I tell you to not place these players in a box surrounding the classification that they play in. Leake, is among the best of the best and a player college coaches should be fighting for along with Shelley. That is why we have these two players listed one and two on the list of NMPreps.com Five Seniors who should be playing college basketball.

3. JOHNNY McCANTS, 6'7'', Sr, F, Onate High School

McCants, is one of the most electrifying players in the state of New Mexico, plenty of upside and room to improve. He has a decent outside shot, a high-flyer and shot blocking machine. He does have to improve ball handling and stamina but a prospect that most colleges would love to work with.

Joshua J Grine of NMPreps.com

1. MARCOS FLORES - ESPANOLA VALLEY (G, 5-10, 2016)

Flores, will forever be one defender that we talk about and discuss. Flores had the task to completely shoot down one of the best basketball guards in the state of New Mexico. Well, that was accomplished - holding Coca to 2 points in the state championship.

2. CENTENNIAL HAWKS

Daniel Amador was the name to know heading into the Elite - 8. Well, the 8-seed Centennial Hawks upset the number one team in 5A by holding Amador to a season low 11-points.

3. CAPITAL JAGUARS

The Jaguars played like one of the best state tournament teams in the state. It was led by their defense. They held Grants, the 2-seed, to only have two players in double figures. Grants was a team that had four averaging over 10. The Jaguars are a top defensive team.
