Way Too Early NMPreps.com Rankings

1A - Basketball

First Four To Final Four Possibility
1. Melrose: The 2A champions drop in classification to 1A basketball. This team has the chances to go undefeated.
2. Springer: Trio of Blahbach, Quintana and Garcia returns. Deadly roster coming back and only graduate one
3. Hondo Valley: Only graduate three from a 27-3 team and could be a middle of the pack or top-2 team.
4. Quemado: Went 23-8 last season and lose only one player to graduation.

Middle Tier - Where To Rank
5. Maxwell: Had a great season at 21-7 and welcome back everyone minus three players. Maybe our 4 b team right now
6. Reserve: Have plenty of returning players, graduate three but return a majority of scoring options that were sophomores.
7. Floyd: Went 8-18 but have several returing players next season.
8. Evangel Christian - Return a Top 100 player in Bates

New Classifications
District 1 - Coronado, Evangel Christian, NMSD, SF Waldorf, Victory Christian, Walatowa
District 2 - Animas, Carrizozo, Quemado, Reserve
District 3 - Corona, Hondo Valley, Lake Arthur, Valley Christian, Vaughn
District 4 - Clovis Christian, Elida, Floyd, Grady, House, Melrose, San Jon
District 5 - Cimarron, Des Moines, Maxwell, Mosquero, Roy, Springer, Wagon Mound

Where does Richard Martinez rank among active head coaches?

Where does Richard Martinez rank among head coaches?

Nobody (myself included) don't give him enough credit. However, Espanola is Espanola because of Martinez. He gets the most out of his kids, is tough on them but they respect hiim. Three state titles (two at Espanola) had he has to start climbing the ranks of the best. Why won't he get the credit though? I think he should be up there.

Top ten pitchers in New Mexico

This looks like the year of the pitcher in New Mexico – college-bound studs all over the state. You can’t really pick a top 10 with this group, but here’s one stab at it:

1. Tanner West, Volcano Vista. This lefthander is committed to Arizona State.

2. Trevor Rogers, Carlsbad. Six-foot-six junior lefthander.

3. Jonathan Stroman, La Cueva. State’s hardest thrower? Just a junior.

4. Nathaniel Garley, Eldorado. Committed to UNM.

5. Connor Mang, Los Alamos. Committed to UNM.

6. Drew Gillespie, Sandia. Committed to UNM.

7. Jensen Lewis, Cibola. Committed to UNM.

8. Garrett Ham, Eldorado. Hard-throwing junior.

9. Mitch Buffett, St. Pius. Committed to NMSU.

10. Joe Standley, Hope Christian. Committed to NMSU.

Other standouts, in no particular order: Miles Hilton, St. Pius; Anthony Robles, La Cueva; Cole Schoepke, Eldorado; Dante Urrea, Deming; Seth Jones, Academy; Thomas Braybrooks, Academy; Cal Villareal, Goddard; Nate Chavez, Goddard; Lane Saunders, Los Alamos; Ricky Apodaca, Sandia; Jack White, Cibola; Matthew Sanchez, Rio Grande; Joe Martinez, Sandia Prep; Harris McConnell, Sandia Prep; Beau Williams, Sandia Prep; Isaiah Tovar, Hobbs; Tristan Bowden, Artesia; Hector Casas, Deming.

Please include any others you feel are worthy of consideration. Anyone from Rio Rancho/Cleveland, Farmington/PV, Las Cruces?
