15-0 and 1,910 Points During Week One......

Grine: Week One Picks

Well, if any of you know me on the football side, do not and I repeat do not bank on my picks. Well, I am saying this year that I am going for GOLD and going to start off the season with a bang (oh and don't view what happened on the volleyball picks last night-haha). What happens with my picks each week is that I buy into the upset picks, pick for teams from NM over TX and sometimes I flip a coin. Maybe I will invest in a dart board (craigslist!). I believe in 2012 (my last year in football) I was a good 5 games, likely more but hey I have to make it seem like I didn't do so bad, under .500. Well, I again proclaim that I will be well on my way to winning fist place in Pick 'Em. Normally you just pick your games, in this thread you can discuss your picks.

Volcano for 100 Mr. Trebek. What is I picked them because of their QB.
Carlsbad for 200. NM vs TX, I go NM plus Bradley will turn this program around quick.
AH for 100. I think this team will be the dark horse in 6A.
Las Cruces for 100. It's LC.
Cleveland for 75. Um, didn't most of us pick them.
Rio Rancho 100. Defending champs.
Alamogordo 75. The WR is already making highlight films.
Artesia 75. They could win ever week.
Estancia for 200. Buying on this one. Why not?
Los Lunas for 100. Yeah they have been good.
SPX 75. They have some early pub to be solid this year...sooold.
St. Mike's for 100. I almost said upset here. Then I didn't. (boom goes the dynamite).
Hobbs for 200. I put extra sugar in my kool-aid.
Centennial for 200. State title contender.
Clovis for 200. Wildcats well no matter what season it's difficult to pick against this program.

Well, I gave you my picks and why I picked them. Did I say I would have great reasoning to why I picked them (NO) but it's worth the shot of you disagreeing with me!

Good morning y'all and finally the first night of football! I'll be on the scoreboard this Friday night here on preps so send them in!

  • Sandia @ Volcano Vista (Community 7PM) - Coin flip game, Sandia's offensive line vs. Volcano's offensive potency

Thursday, August 27th
  • Santa Teresa @ San Elizario TX 63PM - Have to think Santa Teresa opens the season with a win over San Eli
  • Eldorado @ Rio Grande (Community 7PM) - Eagles impressed in week 0, Jayce Jackson should shine

Friday, August 28th
  • Artesia @ Belen 7PM - Too much Artesia offense, could get ugly

  • Bayfield CO @ Kirtland 7PM - Will the new helmets be enough to beat Bayfield
  • Carlsbad @ EP Americas 7PM - EP Americas is going to be a tough hill to climb in week 1
  • Centennial @ Onate 7PM - Coin Flip Game or is it? Last year Centennial won by 32 points
  • Clayton @ West LV 7PM - New coach same Clayton? Tight game expected

  • Deming @ Flowing Wells 7PM - No idea about Flowing Wells, know Deming has Dante at QB
  • Del Norte @ St. Pius X (Milne 7PM) - Eager to see the Spartans open up the offense
  • Dora @ Melrose 7PM - Can't bet against the Buffs
  • EP Del Valle @ Gadsden 7PM - Not sure if they are as good as last year, but Del Valle is A+
  • EP Riverside @ Chaparral 7PM - EP Riverside likely the two touchdown favorite here
  • Escalante @ Tucumcari 7PM - Can Tucumcari stop Dominic Montano at QB
  • Estancia @ Lovington 7PM - Is Lovington really the favorite? 3A vs. 5A game really stands out.
  • Farmington @ Los Lunas 7PM - Think Los Lunas is going to keep it close, if O'Maury is healthy
  • Gallup @ Grants 7PM - Pirates pull off a good home opener
  • Goddard @ Clovis 7PM - Home field advantage gives the Wildcats a slight edge
  • Hagerman @ Capitan 7PM - New coach, same Hagerman. Thinking Bobcats do work
  • Hatch @ Dexter 7PM - Hatch could be scary good this year, tough road trip though
  • Jal @ Questa 7PM - This is the longest road trip maybe all season. Panthers edge Wildcats out
  • La Cueva @ Atrisco Heritage (Community 8PM) - Atrisco's offense might just be enough
  • Las Cruces @ EP Montwood (SAC 4:00PM) (yes that's the correct time) - Tough place for the Dawgs to pull off a victory, we shall see
  • Los Alamos @ Pojoaque 7PM - Toppers are improved this year from what we hear
  • Manzano @ Cleveland 7PM - Big statement expected from the preseason No. 1 Friday
  • Mayfield @ Hobbs 7PM - Tough road trip for the No. 2 ranked team, Trojans On Upset Alert?
  • Moriarty @ Miyamura 7PM - Patriots just need to feed the rock to AJ and they'll be fine
  • Mountainair @ Magdalena 7PM - Steers still hot from last year, likely
  • Navajo Prep @ Laguna Acoma 7PM - Who will step up in Casa Blanca for David McGee?
  • NMMI @ Ft. Sumner 7PM - This is like shooting blindfolded picking NMMI, but I think their staff does a good job
  • Rio Rancho @ Valley (Community 5PM) - Defense and big plays move the winning streak to 14
  • Robertson @ Portales 7PM - Very tough road trip for the Cards, but they have enough talent to win an OT thriller
  • Roswell @ Ruidoso 7PM - Coyotes get some payback from 2014
  • San Juan UT @ Piedra Vista 7PM - Tough week 1 for PV, however I like the Upset
  • SFIS @ Cuba 7PM - Braves get first W of the season
  • Silver @ Capital 7PM - Very interesting match up, Jags will have tough time stopping Jeremiah Burke though
  • Socorro @ Shiprock 7PM - Chieftains get first W of the season
  • St. Mike’s @ Santa Fe 7PM - Horsemen find away to win this one late, could be epic 48 mins
  • Texico @ Santa Rosa 7PM - Coin Flip game, winning in Santa Rosa is never easy though
  • Tularosa @ Hot Springs 7PM - Thinking the Wildcats have a tough time stopping Nick Moreno at RB
  • Valencia @ Alamogordo 7PM - Like the Tigers to make a big home statement

Saturday, August 29th
Albuquerque @ Cibola (Community 5PM) - Who Knows? Coin Flip maybe? Should be a fun game to watch

Hope @ Academy 11AM - Thinking the Huskies win wild one
