Alamo Has Not Beaten Hobbs In Tasker Arena Since 1994

In the latest of the amazing (almost unbelievable) current winning streaks; Alamogordo has not beaten the Eagles in Tasker Arena since the 93-94 season. That was over 20 years ago. Tonight's game had some interesting factors. The spark plug for the Eagles was out with an ankle injury and the first guard off the bench has been sick for 21/2 days. No problem...The last post on the bench, Zach Munoz had an incredible breakout night scoring 22 points including 4 threes.

Alamo was a mystery to me. They are tall and look very athletic. Frankly they are a really good looking team as far as appearances are concerned. Anyway, Hobbs mauled them 102 to 44 in game that was over in just the first few minutes. That was a 58 point destruction. Think about that...if you give Hobbs just the winning margin then the Eagles still win the game by 14...58-44.

On a really sad note, the Hobbs girls game at Alamogordo was cancelled due to the sudden and shocking death today of Alamogordo's assistant coach. Hobbs held a moment of silence before the boy's game. Once again, you never know when your next breath is unexpectedly your last.

Preseason Top 10

Football season is over! Time to start up the baseball talk (maybe a little early, but oh well). Preseason rankings are always very debatable as nobody really knows how teams have developed over the summer and fall. I'll start the rankings for 5A.

1. PV- Defending State Champs and only graduated 2 starters.
2. Goddard- Return a bunch of solid pitching including Cal Villareal
3. Academy- Young team that made semifinals. Key returners in Jones and Long.
4. Farmington- Semifinal team that is always in the mix.
5. Valencia- Bunch of senior that have been starting since sophomore year.
6. Los Alamos- Mang bros will be a tough 1-2 on the bump and are tough outs. Jared possibly the best player in the state.
7. St. Pius- Quarterfinal team that was young.
8. Centennial- Team that has improved every year and now is built to win a state championship
9. Miyamura- Team was young last year and is always tough to beat
10. Los Lunas/Belen/Artesia/Santa T.

EASTON BRUERE LANDS A NEW HOME!

Easton made his decision last night and committed to Butler Junior College. This was the best fit for him after looking at Blinn JC, Glendale JC, Trinity JC, and several D-II schools. They see him as a one year (semester) kid and see him going to the next level..... THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT AND LOVE FOR A NEW MEXICO KID!

GO RAMS!
GO EASTON, BRADY, MIGUEL, MATT, and IKAIKA!!!!! Anthony Nolan and Cody Gallegos are visiting an NAIA school in Michigan.

Looking for host families in the Albuquerque and surrounding areas

We have about 9 players from out of state and 1 coach that we are looking for Host Families for this summer.

If you love baseball and the idea of sharing your home
with a college baseball player, this is an opportunity for you! This is an
opportunity to contribute to your community as well as make an impact in a
young man's life.

The New Mexico Diablos are currently searching for Host
Families for the 2015 season. The players are recruited from all over the
United States to spend the summer here in Albuquerque.

A vital part of a successful season is to have host
families provide housing for the players, giving them support and a family
atmosphere for the summer. We work extremely hard, and take pride in providing
our players with a safe, comfortable family environment. These young men will
have a positive influence in our community and in your home. Many past Host
Families have developed friendships with the players they have welcomed into
their homes and have enjoyed watching their player progress in their lives on
and off the field. This is a great opportunity to receive an inside look at the
trials and tribulations of an aspiring professional baseball player. The
baseball season begins the week of Memorial Day and ends in Mid July.

As a Host Family, here is what we ask of you:

•
Provide a player with their own
room for the season.

•
Provide access to a washer and
dryer if possible.

•
Provide access to a bathroom

•
Provide access to a kitchen

•
Provide a safe and comfortable
environment.

•
Cheer for him at the games whenever
possible.

You can expect your player to be a conscientious young
man who will be a positive role model in your home and the community. He is
expected to follow the rules in your house, contribute to your family's
routines, and share his gratitude for your generosity. It is not unusual for a
player to become a mentor to your young ball player and aspiring college
students… sharing skills and building a friendship that could last a lifetime.

If you would like to learn more about becoming a host
family for the 2015 season and being part of our Diablos family, or talk
to some of our participants, please contact us.
New Mexico Diablos Baseball could not exist without the support and
assistance of the community - especially the generous families and individuals
who have opened their homes and hearts to these young players.
