Recruiting News Ryan Ortiz Rio Rancho

Like to give a BIG congratulations to Ryan Ortiz Offensive/Defensive linemen of Rio Rancho Rams.
He Currently has Offers from:
Clarke University
Waldorf University
Buena Vista University
St. Ambrose University

Way to go on all the hard work you have put in the game. I'm sure you will have some more offers coming and who ever you decide to go play for will get a big asset to the team.

Hoops: Daily Dimes - December 20th

TOP GAMES
Albuquerque (1-2) vs Del Norte (2-2): Albuquerque High started the season 0-2 but earned a win last week in overtime. They'll look to push the tempo in this contest against a Del Norte team currently on a two-game skid. Both teams have potential and must-see players - Jude Tapia (Albuquerque) and Malik Barton (Del Norte).

Bernalillo (5-3) at Gallup (6-2): Both teams fighting for their claim at the top four section. Gallup coming off a loss at Los Lunas last night and needs a rebound. The issue? They have a very good Bernalillo team that could cause issue inside the paint.

Highland (3-1) at Rio Rancho (2-2): Both teams have potential. 4A Highland is trying to stay in the top contender section of their classification. Rio Rancho, a fast tempo team that can go deep into their bench. This one won't hurt either team but a quality challenge. Some clash to styles that could make it a fun one in river ranch.

Hobbs (6-4) at Artesia (3-2): This could be one of Artesia's best teams. Hobbs is currently a roller coaster of ups and downs. They can look and be very good. They could look and play under their potential. Them and Artesia will be another clash in styles but should get into a up and down contest early on. Who can control the tempo in the second should find the dub.

Las Cruces (6-1) vs Carlsbad (6-0): Las Cruces and Carlsbad will give us a battle of two top ranked teams in 5A basketball. We also get to see two of the top guards in New Mexico with Duece Williams (Las Cruces) going toe to toe with Josh Silas (Carlsbad).

What else are you watching tonight?

Team Rankings Week 4 Rankings

5A BASKETBALL (DECEMBER 16th - 21st)

1. Volcano Vista (5-0)
2. Piedra Vista (8-0)
3. Hobbs (9-0)
4. Centennial (8-0)
5. Mayfield (5-2)
6. Sandia (5-1)
7. West Mesa (4-2)
8. La Cueva (3-1)
9. Cibola (2-2)
10. Carlsbad (5-2)
11. Cleveland (7-1)
12. Las Cruces (5-3)
13. Farmington (3-2)
14. Albuquerque (2-2)
15. Eldorado (3-4)
16. Rio Rancho (2-3)

Skinny: The top four are undefeated and have played the part of top contender after three weeks of play. The next tier between 5-10 is fairly close and brings the parity talk in that group. 5 Mayfield and 6 Sandia are likely slightly above in this tier with 7-10 falling in order.

What to Learn: We really won't see much of a shift this coming week. The key games on Saturday could shift slightly in the rankings. Cleveland will have to battle undefeated Centennial. La Cueva and Rio Rancho go to battle. Las Cruces squares off with Carlsbad in what could be the only game that provides some sort of answers.

4A BASKETBALL (DECEMBER 20TH)
No. 1 Kirtland Central
No. 2 Los Lunas
No. 3 Highland
No. 4 Gallup
No. 5 Miyamura
No. 6 Espanola Valley
No. 7 Bernalillo
No. 8 Pojoaque Valley

Top Four: The four at the top of this classification will stay as the top four when the brackets gets released in March. They sit in the tier above. Kirtland Central earned a four point win at home last night over Los Lunas to shift those twos. Los Lunas beat Highland early this season and will stay that way in March. Gallup could battle with Highland but likely to lose out on the three seed as a DRUP.

Next Teir: Miyamura is on the fringe for the next group but will need to get over the hump and beat out Kirtland and/or Gallup. After falling apart late last season losing their last five games of the district season they are looking to rebound this season. Talent is there. Espanola Valley and Bernalillo are the early surprises this season. Espanola Valley made a run to the Final Four last season, they appear to be playing better this season? Bernalillo could sneak a home first round game with a DRUP finish, they are 8-1 on the year but after the break will show more. They could have the best player in the 2022 class.

Back 8? Untold right now. Portales, Silver, and Goddard in the conversation.

No. 13 Rio Rancho Rams (2-2)
No. 14 Gadsden Panthers (3-3)
No. 15 Albuquerque (1-2)
No. 16 West Mesa (2-4)

Movement: Plenty of it in this weeks rankings. The only constant was change this week outside of the top spot with Cleveland retaining the spot after winning their own tournament.

Guessing Game: The 10-16 range could go in any order at this point. Nothing truly separates the group. Some arguments of them over them but now they lost too.
