Since NM has just crowned their 69th official "Big School" football champion, I thought it would be fun to look at the overall results North vs. South etc...Remember, this list is schools that won the championship for the largest classification in a particular year. (For example, Artesia, Roswell, Goddard, Farmington etc...were playing in the largest classification at one time). Of course, you also have to take into consideration that not all schools were in existence during all of these years. It will be fun to see how things pan out in the next 20 years and beyond! (All info taken from the NMAA website).

Last year the Hobbs boy's team was unusual because they placed an 8th grader on the boy's varsity team. He played a decent amount and he appears to be one of the best player on the team this year as a freshman. Not to be outdone the Hobbs girls team has an 8th grader this year. Her name is Wisdom Anthony and she scored 15 points in the second quarter in the blowout win over Onate 71-37. Granted, the Lady Knights appear to be somewhere between terrible and horrible but still you have to give an 8th grader some respect as she calmly appears to be one of the best players this year. It is going to be interesting to see what she does at Hobbs High for five seasons under probably the best coach in New Mexico. Of interest also for the Lady Eagles is their height. Good luck to them as they travel to Texas now to play good teams with 10 games under their belts.
