Lovington Upgrades

Just wanted to share with you guys the projects we have going on here in Lovington. I wasn't smart enough to figure out how to post pictures. Currently we have a new backstop going up, tore down the old prison fence. Also 4 new cages just went up, renovated the concession stand, new paint everywhere, new bullpens being built over the Christmas break as well. Also working on raising funds for locker rooms for us & softball, new lights (ask Artesia, Roswell, & Goddard about the adventures of a night game in Lovington), upgraded bleachers, concrete base for our cages, & shading for our bleachers. Hoping to wow some of you when you come to our facility this year.

APS: Rio Rancho vs Sandia for Championship

No. 4 Rio Rancho (10-5) vs No. 10 Sandia (7-4)

Rio Rancho: Juan Hurt, Sr, G; David Patterson, So, G; Derrick Reyes, Jr, F; Jeremy Snider, Sr, W

Sandia: Jonah Callahan, Sr, G; Tanner Sloan, Sr, F; Bobby Tapia, Sr, G

Last Meeting: Rio Rancho 68, Sandia 54

Line: Rio Rancho -6

Prediction: Rio Rancho. The Rams have plenty of depth and the height factor will bother the Matadors in this contest. Depth and if Sandia is without Bobby Tapia could hurt as the Rams have both guards and forwards to worry about especially Juan Hurt.

NMAA SELECTS THE ESTANCIA FOOTBALL TEAM AS THE

“COMPETE WITH CLASS” HONOREE FOR THE MONTH OF NOVEMBER 2016

ALBUQUERQUE, NM – The New Mexico Activities Association is proud to announce that the Estancia High School football team has been recognized as the Compete with Class award recipient for the month of November 2016.

In an email to the NMAA from Eunice Superintendent Dwain Haynes, he explained how Estancia showed great sportsmanship and class to the Eunice football team despite losing a state playoff football game.

Haynes commented by saying, “Following a 38-13 win by Eunice over Estancia in the Class 3A semifinal football game, the Cardinal football team did their postgame cheer with their fans. Instead of heading to the locker room, Estancia knelt at the 45-yard line to show respect to Eunice for a great game and a job well done.”

Sportsmanship is defined by the NMAA as the act of treating others in a respectful manner, taking personal accountability for ones actions, and responding with integrity while engaged in competition.

The NMAA would like to thank and recognize the Estancia High School football team for setting a great example for the state of New Mexico.

Their act of sportsmanship exemplifies the true ideals of the Compete with Class Sportsmanship Initiative - respect, integrity, and responsibility. More information regarding the “Compete with Class” sportsmanship initiative can be found on the NMAA website at www.nmact.org.

Note that the NMAA will announce a monthly honoree throughout the remainder of the 2016-2017 school year. Questions regarding this announcement can be directed to Dusty Young, NMAA Associate Director, at (505) 977-5385.

Los Lunas Open

From Coach Terrel Trantham...

I am not going to coach football anymore. I am not disgruntled, nor do I have any hard feelings toward any individuals. I am resigning based on my desire to be a better father and husband and I intend to set aside my coaching career for the time being. We will soon have 3 children under the age of 5 and I just couldn’t see myself putting in the time and dealing with the stress of coaching while my kids were so young.

If you are interested in applying for the job send me an email and I can answer any questions that you might have. We have a great group of kids in Los Lunas. I wish the players and coaches here the best and I will be glad to help the new coach transition into the role.

All the Best,

Terrell Trantham
