What to Watch: Week Four, Tuesday Night

Tuesday night is a quiet one as teams are coming back from the labor day weekend. Not many games but a few to keep an eye on.

TOP TEN GAMES TO WATCH

State Tournament Watch: No. 23 Espanola Valley v. Belen: What this game has the potential to affect is the post season for both teams. Belen has been somewhat inconsistent to this point while Espanola started the season off with a loss to Hope.

Small School Battle: Elida v. Melrose: Both ranked teams in their classification will make for an intense match for both teams. Elida (2-1) has been the power for some time while Melrose at 4-1 looking for a title season.

Southern Game: No. 3 Centennial v. Deming: Yes, Centennial is a power and have been walking through NM teams recently but Deming is this dark horse type of team. The odds are fully in the Lady Hawks favor but the Lady Wildcats looking for respect could give a battle to the end.

East Game: No. 17 Clovis v. Portales: The Lady Rams of Portales are still searching for that signature win to prove that they belong with the Top-25 best teams in New Mexico. Clovis has two wins over Palo Duro (TX) and looking to solidify that they are a Top-25 team.

Name Game: No. 13 Onate v. Ruidoso: Onate dropped in the polls after falling in their first match of the season. They will look to avoid an upset loss to unranked Ruidoso this week. Ruidoso even with recent losses and falling out of the Top-25 could still provide a upset team any given night.

Guessing Game: Valencia v. West Las Vegas: Both teams are looking for respect and winning this game keeps them in the conversation. A loss won't necessarily hurt either squad but winning only helps put them in the conversation. West Las Vegas moved up in their classification rankings, winning will keep them there.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Amanda Borden (Deming HS/Senior): Borden has held her own lately, sort of flying under the radar for the Lady Wildcats. New name to the scene so we will keep an eye.

Lexi Cole (Clovis/Sophomore): Was on our watch list after week two. Still a top player but will need consistent showings this week and prove how good she is tonight with a match-up with Portales.

Savannah Bush (Centennial/Senior): We know the name and if your looking for a player (or team) to watch on Tuesday night it would be this match..
