1. Cleveland Storm defeated EP Del Valle 52-36
The Cleveland Storm trailed for the first time of the season 7-0 after the Del Valle Conquistadors took the opening kick to the house. Cleveland responded on the road in a hostile environment putting up 50 for a second straight week. On the night Quarterback Gabe Ortega threw for over 175-yards and also ran for a 77-yard touchdown. Landry Hayes ran for 113-yards and 2 touchdowns, on the night Cleveland racked up over 455-yards of offense. The Storm will take on Onate in week 3.
2. Mayfield Trojans defeated EP Franklin 69-49
Last year the score was Mayfield 62, El Paso Franklin 55, this year 69-49. In the past two weeks Mayfield has scored 110 points of offense and allowed 83 points on defense. Mayfield Junior Running Back Isaac Vance ran wild for a second week in a row posting 247-yards and 5 touchdowns. On the season he has rushed for 620-yards and scored 9 touchdowns. Vance scored on runs from 2, 4, 14, 4, and caught a 54-yard touchdown pass. Mayfield Quarterback Joeray Valencia threw for 177-yards and 3 touchdowns. Mayfield heads to Carlsbad in week 3.
3. Rio Rancho Rams Lost to EP Americas 33-21
The El Paso Americas Trailblazers snapped the Rio Rancho Ram’s 14 game winning streak Friday night thanks to Eric Foster the team’s quarterback ran for 130-yards on the night, the highlight came when he busted out a 51-yard score in the 4th quarter. Rio Rancho now 1-1 will take on La Cueva in week 3.
4. Centennial Hawks defeated Gadsden 55-6
The Centennial Hawks routed Gadsden Thursday Night at the Field of Dreams 55-6 to move to 2-0 on the season. Quarterback Dante Lopez threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to JR Pena to make it 7-0, then the Hawks got a touchdown from Joaquin Gutierrez to make it 14-0, then a Kieth Jasson touchdown made it 21-0 early in the 2nd quarter. The Hawks continued to pour it on when Pena caught another touchdown pass, then went up 34-0 when Lopez hit Bryce Rewalt to make it 34-0. Lopez who had three touchdowns last week finished the game with 197-yards passing and three touchdowns. The Hawks now 2-0 will take on Del Norte in week 3.
No. 5 Las Cruces defeated La Cueva 46-7
The Las Cruces Bulldawgs got their first win of the year Saturday against La Cueva in a game that was packed with penalties early on, in-fact Las Cruces had more than 100-yards of penalties in the first half alone. The Dagws jumped to a 7-0 lead when Quarterback Kameron Miller busted a 30-yard touchdown run. La Cueva fired back with a Chris Campbell touchdown, then Las Cruces scored 39 unanswered points in a route. A Payton ball touchdown run made it 14-7, then Miller hit Super Brandon Baeza for a 34-yard touchdown to make it 21-7, a field goal made it 24-7 at the half. Miller would throw another touchdown in the second half and the Dawgs never looked back. Now 1-1, Las Cruces will take on Volcano Vista in week 3 at the Field of Dreams. La Cueva now 1-1 will face Rio Rancho.
6. Volcano Vista Hawks Defeated Manzano 34-17
The Volcano Vista Hawks rolled to 2-0 on the season Thursday Night defeating Manzano in a game they led 28-0 at the half. Hawks Quarterback Josh Wiliams threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Helio Lopez and then a 47-yard touchdown strike to David Cormier to make it a quick 14-0. The Hawks defense was stout on the night again creating several opportunities for Volcano Vista to score and the Hawks did just that as Williams hit Josh Barton for a touchdown pass, than ran in a touchdown from 14-yards out. The lone Manzano highlight was a 22-yard touchdown from Sophomore Jordan Byrd. Volcano Vista heads to Las Cruces to take on Las Cruces in week 3.
7. Artesia Bulldogs defeated Hobbs 38-28
In a highly anticipated Southeast Showdown, the Artesia Bulldogs handed Hobbs their second loss of the season in front of more 7,000 fans. The Bulldogs jumped to a 6-0 lead when Bulldog Quarterback Justin Houghtaling connected with Clay Donaghe for a 46-yard touchdown. Hobbs took a 7-6 lead when Isaac Amaya connected with Aaron Compton for a 15-yard touchdown. Hobbs led 14-12 at the half, then Artesia jumped to a 28-21 lead in the third quarter when Houghtalng threw a 54-yard touchdown pass to Chaz Matthews. The Bulldogs then recovered a fumble on the ensuing kick-off and would kick a field goal to make it 31-21 in the 4th quarter. On the night Houghtaling threw for 406-yards, ran for 3 touchdowns, and threw for 2 touchdowns. Cody Scott who had 3 sacks last week against Belen, had 4 against Hobbs, and Carlos Carrasco came up with another interception, brining his season total to 3 in just two games. Artesia hosts Valencia for homecoming in week 3, Hobbs now 0-2 will take on Roswell.
8. Eldorado Eagles defeated Valley 55-0
The Eldorado Eagles have outscored their first two opponents 107-0. Friday Night the Eagles blew past Valley thanks to 133-yards from Running Back Noah Sweitzer who also scored 3 touchdowns. The Eagles now 2-0 on the season will take on West Mesa in week 3.
9. Clovis Wildcats defeated Cibola 14-6
The Cibola Cougars actually led this game 3-0 to start after a 30-yard field goal, Clovis responded with a Micah Gray 1-yard touchdown run. The Cougars made it 7-6 at the half off another field goal, Clovis then went up 14-6 when Wildcat Quarterback Daulton Hatley scored on a 26-yard touchdown run. Clovis now 2-0 will take on Atrisco Heritage in week 3. Cibola now 1-1 on the season will take on Valley.
10. Alamogordo Tigers defeated Los Lunas 46-7
The Alamogordo Tigers blew past Los Lunas Friday Night moving to 2-0 on the season. In just two games Alamogordo has outscored the comp 99-7. Friday Night Alamogordo was led by Junior Quarterback Kyle Hooper who threw for 420-yards, 5 passing touchdowns, and 1 rushing score. Alex Ramirez accounted for over 170-yards of offense and 2 touchdowns, Receiver Julian Segura had his first big game of the year hauling in 9 balls for 162-yards and a touchdown. The Tigers will be in action next week against Highland.
11. Goddard Rockets lost to Piedra Vista 34-16
In a statewide shocker the Piedra Vista Panthers (unranked in the latest NMPreps.com Top 25) defeated Goddard their second loss of the season Friday Night at Hutchinson Stadium. The Panthers were led by Elijah Gamboa who threw for 61-yards, ran for 121-yards, and scored 2 touchdowns. On the night Piedra Vista racked up 206-yards of offense. Alex Shay had an interception for Piedra Vista, Christian Chavez kicked two field goals, Matt Gonzales returned a punt 85-yards for a score. The Panthers now 2-0 will take on Durango in week 3, Goddard will take on Los Lunas.

13. Onate Knights lost to EP Eastlake 34-18
Onate turned the football over 4 times against El Paso Eastlake and would give up an early lead to move to 0-2 on the season. Tony Herrera scored a rushing touchdown on the night. The Knights will take on Cleveland in week 3.
14. La Cueva Bears lost to Las Cruces 46-7

15. Sandia Matadors defeated Atrisco 51-6
The Sandia Matadors rebounded in week 2 with a big win against Atrisco Heritage 51-6 Thursday Night at Community Stadium in Albuquerque. Sandia running back Jimmy Galleogs scored the games first touchdown off an 8-yard touchdown run, then Jacob Archibeque hit Gallegos for a 60-yard touchdown to make it 14-0. Gallegos scored his third touchdown of the night off a 50-yard pick 6 to make it 28-0, then Gallegos would score his fourth touchdown of the night off another touchdown catch from Archubeque. On the night Gallegos finished with 5 touchdowns and over 167-yards of offense. Sandia now 1-1 will take on Albuquerque in week 3. Atrisco Heritage now 0-2 will take on Clovis at Leon Williams Stadium.
16. Cibola Cougars lost to Clovis 14-6
The Cougars move to 1-1 on the season after falling to Clovis 14-6. The game was actually 7-6 at the break. Next week, Cibola will take on Valley.
17. Manzano Monarchs lost to Volcano 34-17
The Monarchs were defeated by Volcano Vista Friday Night to drop to 0-2 on the season. Next week Manzano plays another winless team in Rio Grande.
18. Valley Vikings lost to Eldorado 55-0
The Valley Vikings have now allowed 97 points in the first two games of the season and are now 0-2 heading into their week 3 contest against Valley.
19. St. Pius X Sartans defeated Los Alamos 46-0
The Sartans buried Los Alamos Friday Night in a no-contest match up to move to 2-0 on the season. We are awaiting stats, but last week Quarterback Drew Ortiz accounted for 5 touchdowns.
20. Atrisco Heritage lost to Sandia 51-6
The Jaguars early season struggles continue as they were beaten by Sandia Thursday Night 51-6. In two games Atrisco Heritage has been outscored 84-13.
21. Belen Eagles lost to Moriarty 24-7
The Eagles dropped to 0-2 on the season losing to Moriarty Friday Night. The Eagles have been outscored 64-7 in the first two games of the season.
22. Albuquerque vs. Del Norte (Sat)
Albuquerque is 0-1, while Del Norte is 0-1 heading into Saturday’s match up. Last year, this game came down to the final play of the game with Del Norte winning a wild one
23. Carlsbad Cavemen lost to Deming 41-34
The Cavemen lost their second game in a row under new Head Coach Gary Bradley Friday Night. Deming Quarterback Dante Urrea scored 6 touchdowns. The Cavemen take on Mayfield in week 3.
24. Miyamura defeated Montezuma-Cortez, CO 45-13
The Miyamura Patriots continue to do work and will continue to move up in the Top 25 rankings after beating Montezuma-Cortez or a second straight year. The Patriots take on Bayfield in week 3.
25. West Mesa lost to Valencia 22-14
West Mesa lost a tight match up Friday Night to Valencia and first year Head Coach Collin Justiss. The Mustangs will head to face Eldorado in week 3.
Additional Marquee Games
St. Mike’s 49, Capital 20
The Horsemen are City Champs. Last Friday Night the Horsemen defeated Santa Fe High by 27, on Saturday the Horsemen blew out Capital by 29. Though Capital jumped to a 7-0 lead, the Horsemen scored off a Chross Jaramillo to Esteban Alvarez touchdown connection and a Capital special team’s error to make it 15-7. The Horsemen would lead at half 29-14 thanks to two 2nd quarter Xavier Vigil Touchdowns. Jaramillo would put the nail in the coffin with a 91-yard touchdown run. The Horsemen now 2-0 on the season will take on Taos in week 3, Capital now 1-1 will play Santa Fe.
Canyon (TX) 27, Roswell 19
Despite leading most of the night the Coyotes came up short against Canyon losing 27-19 and move to 1-1 on the season. Next week they take on Hobbs.
Espanola Valley 50, West Las Vegas 0
The Sundevils are one of the hottest teams in the Northern region right now blasting past West Las Vegas Friday Night by way of the mercy rule. The Sundevils now 2-0 will take on Pojoaque in week 3.
Farmington 64, Kirtland Central 26
Farmington moved to 2-0 on the season defeating Kirtland in convincing fashion Friday Night. The Scorpions were led by Kdy Bencenti who threw for 218-yards, 3 touchdowns, ran for 85-yards and a rushing touchdown.
Gallup 33, Bernalillo 0
The Bengales entered this game having not won since 2013 and walked away with a big shutout victory over Bernalillo to move to 1-1 on the season.
Grants 33, Santa Fe 6
The Pirates moved to 2-0 on the season defeating Santa Fe 33-6. Next week Grants will take on the Hope Christian Huskies. Santa Fe is now 0-2.
Highland 28, Rio Grande 6
The Highland Hornets snapped the state’s longest 6A losing streak of more than 13 games dating back to 2013 beating Rio Grande Friday Night by 22. Highland is in action next week against Alamogordo.

Portales 48, Lovington 12
The Portales Rams rolled past Lovington Friday Night thanks to big defense and a big game from Bronte Staaguard who ran for 238 yards and 4 touchdowns.
Hatch Valley 48, Ruidoso 14
The Hatch Valley Bears rolled to 2-0 Friday night thanks to three big touchdowns from Adrian Grajeda, his longest of the night was a 49-yard touchdown run.
Clayton 46, Eunice 7
The Clayton Yellowjackets moved to 2-0 on the season defeating Eunice thanks to a massive ground effort. Jose Zamora ran for 225-yards and 2 touchdowns, Justin Taylor ran for 148-yards, and 4 touchdowns, Seth Martinez had 12 tackles on defense.
Tucumcari 35, Texico 26
The Tucumcari Rattlers made a big statement Friday Night wit ha 9 point win over Texico. On the night Daniel Lopez ran for 238-yards and 3 touchdowns, he also returned a punt 60-yards for a score. Tyler Ferguson threw a 55-yard touchdown to Zedric Henderson, both teams are now 1-1.
Bloomfield 52, Pojoaque Valley 0
For a second straight week Bloomfield has dominated. Friday Night the Bobcats were led by Brandon Ramsey who returned an interception for a touchdown and also ran for two scores on offense. JD Robinson chimed in with two scores.
Melrose 60, Cloudcroft 6
The Buffs dominated once again and rolled to a 54 point win Friday Night. Rowdy allen returned a kick for a touchdown and Sophomore Quarterback Cade Banard scored twice.
Dora 56, Mescalero 6
The Coyotes were led by Hayden Skinner on the night who scored 6 touchdowns, is longest was a 55-yard touchdown run.
