City of Champions Tournament No. 17 Carlsbad 57, Artesia 22

In the championship game of the City of Champions tournament it was all the No. 17 Carlsbad Lady Cavemen (7-0). The Lady Cavemen started the game with a 12-0 run, with a 1-2 punch with a solid backcourt and talented bigs. Freshman Carsyn Boswell poured in a game high 17-points as she took home all-tournament honors. Rylan Gonzales the four year starter for the Lady Cavemen put in 12-points on the evening. Gracie Tesillo paced the Lady Dogs with 10 points in the loss.

Los Alamos 63, Los Lunas 59 - Joe Armijo Tournament Championship

Los Alamos defeated Los Lunas 63-59 to win the annual Joe Armijo Tournament. On the night, Ashlynn Trujillo was named tournament mvp scoring 25 in the championship game.



Portales Wins Alice King Tournament
The Portales Lady Rams defeated Moriarty Saturday Night to win the Alice King Tournament Championship game by a score of 52-23. On the night Kambrey Blakley scored 19. The Rams are now 3-0

Statement Win: No. 14 Los Alamos 65, No. 12 Hope Christian 39: The Lady Hilltoppers of Los Alamos moved to 6-1 on the season with a huge statement win at the Joe Armijo Tournament (Albuquerque Academy), 65-39

No. 17 Carlsbad 43, Goddard 31: Carlsbad struggled with a hot shooting Goddard Lady Rockets on Friday night but went inside to Kim Best for a 10-point, 5 rebound night. Carlsbad (3-0) move on to the championship of the City of Champions Tournament in Artesia.

CITY OF CHAMPIONS TOURNAMENT

Gallup 52, No. 6 Rio Rancho 49 (OT)

Colton Lowely (2016) knocked down one of the biggest three point shots of the night as the Gallup Bengals (4-3) upset the No. 6 Rio Rancho Rams (5-2) on Friday night, 52-49 in overtime of the City of Tournaments tournament.

The Bengals move on and will take on the Pojoaque Valley (5-0) Elks in the championship game.

Pojoaque Valley 41, Chaparral 17

James Garcia poured in 17 points (3 3-pointers) in a walk-a-away win on Friday night. The Elks held the Lobos (1-8) to 17-points, 8 in the second half to secure the win. The Elks improve to (5-0) on the season and will face the Gallup Bengals in the championship game on Saturday.

Artesia 58, EP Austin (TX) 48

The Bulldogs improved to (2-1) on the season with the ten point win over the Golden Panthers on Friday night. Taylor Null, a sophomore, put in 19-points on the night to seal the win for the Bulldogs. Justin Houghtaling also in double figures with 11-points also handed out several assists on the night (unofficially 7) to help in the win.

The Goddard Rockets improved to (4-4) on the season with a win Friday night. The Rockets trailed Mayfield (2-6) 22-17 at the half but used 13-5 third quarter to move on for the win. Sophomore forward Dalin Stanford put in 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Rockets in the win. The Rockets move on to play Artesia in the consolation championship on Saturday night putting two district teams against each other.

The Onate Knights moved to 5-2 on the season with a win over the No. 1 Carlsbad Cavemen (4-1). In the battle between the who is the best player in the state of New Mexico, senior Johnny McCants for Onate put in 23 points, 13 rebounds and 8 blocks along with 4 steals for the Knights.

No. 9 Valley 57, Del Norte 50

The Valley Vikings move to 3-2 on the season with the win over Del Norte (1-5), 57-50 in the second semi-final of the Joe Armijo Tournament at Albuquerque Academy. The Vikings will face Onate on Saturday for the championship in a battle between two Top-10 teams.

No. 16 Capital 49, No. 15 Gadsden 38

The Jaguars of Capital (6-1) were led by top senior guard Eric Coca in the win on Friday night. Coca finished with 16 points on the night. Tomas Cano paced the way for Gadsden with 22 points.

No. 20 Española Valley 85, Robertson 82 (4 OT)

Uriah Arellano put in 14 points and 8 assists in the win over Robertson at the Sandia Prep Sundevil Invite on Friday night. Elias Archuleta had 12 points and JP Sena had 11 points in double figures for the Sundevils.

RAPID FIRE RUNDOWN

With nothing but thunder the No. 3 Cleveland Storm pounded Fabens, Texas, 81-35 at the Marv Sanders Invite. No. 5 Hope Christian wins a close one over No. 24 Los Lunas at the Joe Armijo. The No. 10 Roswell Coyotes beat host No. 25 Belen on Friday night at the Hub City Tournament, 70-50.

No. 12 Volcano Vista took a close flight over unranked Manzano in a 9-point win, 55-46. Unranked Piedra Vista move on and will play in the Championship game of the Marv Sanders tournament with a win over No. 18 Las Cruces, 51-44. No. 21 Silver improved to (2-0) on the season with a 37-32 win over host Sandia Prep on Friday.
