Overview
The reigning state champions - the Rio Rancho Rams - welcome back the NMPreps.com New Mexico Mr. Basketball along with the surround cast members, creating one of the deepest and most talented rosters for 2016/2017. Clay Patterson, Mr. Basketball, returns with backcourt mate Juan Hurt as they look to be the hands down favorite for next season.
Who is number two? You have to like the junior tag team of Anthony Chavez and Segun Oyekun. Chavez is next level talent, a fearless guard that plays composed - as you seen all of last season. At three we like the Cibola Cougars who return their own point guard in Desmond Carpenter a Top-10 player this coming season who has since been reported to have committed to New Mexico Highlands University.
Rounding out the Top-5 we have the Albuquerque High Bulldogs, behind division one player Marlon Cunninghman (UNM) at four and Cleveland who has a new head coach falling in-line at five. Cleveland hired longtime Rio Grande head coach Sean Jimenez as their second head coach in program history.
Volcano Vista returns top player David Cormier a 6-6 wing that is one of the most udnerrated players in the state. Hobbs has a key addition this summer in Vince Taylor from Sweden who could follow the footsteps of his father and brother bringing titles to Hobbs.
