The List

As the 2015-2016 year comes to an end, there are many things to reflect on throughout the year. Things we should have done differently, how we will get better at this or that, or whatever the list may include. The one thing I know, coaches, you all did a great job this year. Regardless of your season outcome, only fellow coaches know the time, effort, blood, sweat, and tears that you put in every year. There are few things that parents and fans understand about our profession (it is evident when your read some of the comments on here). Here are some of the things few people realize:

  1. You got into this profession for other people's kids
  2. You don't get your satisfaction from pay or your success, you get it from watching your players succeed
  3. You are willing to wait after practice for a parent to pick up their child, because you don't want them to wait alone
  4. Despite the issues you have with a parent, you are willing to put them aside for the benefit of your player, who has no control over their parent
  5. You put more money into your program and players than your get paid
  6. You play a role way beyond coach; your are mentor, teacher, parent, psychologist, psychiatrist, spiritual leader, and the list goes on
  7. You will do anything to defend your players, regardless of your are 10-0 or 0-10
  8. You are a mentor to your players long after they have left your program
If you have more, add to the list and show your appreciation for our fellow brothers and sisters in the coaching profession.

Good luck to you all this season. Remember, when things get tough with the people outside of your program, you aren't alone. Praying for your all, and your efforts are appreciated. Bring your best every game this year, I know we will!

Early NMPreps.com Elite Combine Preview

Austin Seay - Mayfield - Linebacker
Notes: 5-foot-10, 190 pound Class of 2017 prospect that we are expecting big things from at the combine. The Trojans have had plenty of big linebackers through the years, Seay looks like the next one.

Blake Moore - Hobbs - Quarterback/Athlete
Notes: 5-foot-11, 165 pound Class of 2017 prospect that could push for the starting quarterback role as a senior in 2016 following the graduation of Isaac Amaya. Moore comes from a great bloodline of athletes and should contribute on the offense in big fashion during the 2016 season for the Eagles.

NOTE: All users will have to log back in Friday

Starting Friday, Rivals is implementing a new login system that will automatically logout all users. You will need to log back in once and should be good to go from that point forward. However, your username and password will not be cached (remembered by your computer) the first time you log back in. So it would be a good idea to make sure you have your password handy.

I’m sure some won’t remember their password or misplaced where you had it written down (happens to me all the time). If that’s the case there’s an easy process to recover your password.

Forgot Password: https://nmpreps.n.rivals.com/users/password/forgot

Forgot username: https://nmpreps.n.rivals.com/users/username/forgot

Also, Rivals customer care will be available via chat between 8 am and 5 pm CT Friday by going to the Contact Us page at the footer of every page and following the proper links and flows.

If all else fails, you can reach out to the NMPreps.com Customer Service email -nmpreps@yahoo.com and we will do our best to assist.

NOTE: The new login system is set up log out users that are clearly sharing accounts. If you are getting booted off your account it means others are also logged into your account. For some of you this may be by accident but with others you shared your account knowingly. Either way, if you are the owner of such an account it's best to change your password and not share it. We aren't going to punish anyone who knowingly shared an account, and with a select few this has been abused greatly, so if you have been using someone else's account we welcome you to sign-up with your own account.

June 13th Recruiting Notebook

June 13th Recruiting Notebook
By: Kyle Henderson

We kick off mid June with a big recruiting update on the Class of 2017. As you know many of the state’s top prospects having been attending camps across the country, getting their names out in front of college coaches, so far 14 prospects from 2017 have offers to play at the next level.

6-foot-6, 280 pound Dylan Weaver out of Piedra Vista committed to Texas Tech last week being the third prospect from the Class of 2017 to pull the trigger commitment wise. Weaver held offers from San Diego State, New Mexico, and Georgia State before being Tech’s No. 7 commitment from 2017. “It’s obviously a big program and when I saw that Casey committed that left one spot open for the offensive line and I knew that if I didn’t commit to Tech it would be something I would wonder about and would likely regret later in life. The opportunity to play for a program like Texas Tech is huge,” said Weaver.

6-foot-1, 225 pound linebacker Forest McKee out of Onate High School who has an offer from New Mexico State impressed at both UTEP and Texas Tech’s camps and also visited UNLV recently. All three schools are actively recruiting him, however still just the offer from State is on the table. McKee has a bench max of 385 pounds and was clocked at a 4.59 at the Red Raider’s Camp.

Also at the Texas Tech Camp was Mayfield Running Back Isaac Vance who also holds an early offer from New Mexico State, but remains uncommitted at this point. Vance arguably is the top returning running back in Class 6A and scored over 20 touchdowns for the Trojans in 2015 as a junior.

Other prospects receiving recruiting interest from Mayfield include 6-foot-4, 210 pound Gaven Swinson who impressed at an Oklahoma Camp in early June. "It went very good. I was picked top three out of the wide receivers at the camp. I'm expecting a call from the wide receivers coach today," Said Swinson Monday Night following the event. Swinson is hearing from quite a few schools, but no offer in just yet. "Texas tech came down to see me. I'm also talking to Air Force Academy and hearing from a few others."

Swinson was a top performer at Oklahoma's Camp in early June

Mayfield Defensive Linemen Jalen Guerrero at 6-foot-6, 250 pounds is also being recruiting by UTEP, NMSU, and New Mexico.

A good handful of Rio Rancho Prospects also continue to generate recruiting interest. Last week Running Back Josh Foley turned heads at Colorado’s Football Camp and checked in at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds. Our sources tell us that Foley impressed the Colorado Coaches enough that they are going to be in contact moving forward. Foley also was approached by Northern Colorado, Colorado School of Mines, and CSU Pueblo during the weekend. Foley also holds offers from Highlands and Western New Mexico.

Offensive Linemen Logan Hertz also out of Rio Rancho at 6-foot-6, 275 pounds recently picked up an offer from Montana and now has offers from: Western State Colorado, Colorado Mesa, and Eastern New Mexico and is also hearing from New Mexico, New Mexico State, Ft. Lewis, and NAU.

6-foot-5, 190 pound Athlete Dakota Carrasco also out of Rio Rancho’s talented Class of 2017 has recently been contacted by the University of Pennsylvania. Carrasco who could play Quarterback, Receiver, or Defensive Back for the Rams this year also has offers from Colorado Mesa, Eastern New Mexico, and is also hearing from New Mexico State, Arizona, and West Texas A&M.

St. Michael’s Xavier Vigil is likely the top overall player returning in Class 4A and recently he showed out at both UTEP’s and Texas Tech’s camp checking in at 6-foot-0, 220 pounds, running a 4.6 40-time and a 29 inch vertical. Schools now recruiting him include: Texas Tech, UTEP, New Mexico State, New Mexico, CSU, and for wrestling he is hearing from NAVY, Brown, Old Dominion, Iowa State, ASU, Missouri, and Oklahoma.

Attending NAU’s Football Camp over the weekend was La Cueva’s trio Josh Woisin, Chris Campbell, and Derek Loidolt. Each started during the 2015 season for the Bears: Woisin at backer, Campbell at quarterback, and Loidolt at linebacker.

Josh Woisin, Chris Campbell, and Derek Loidolt all started for La Cueva in 2015

Clovis Running Back Micah Gray has been busy hitting camps as well. The 5-foot-11, 175 pound back who ran for 1,100-yards and scored 13 touchdowns last year is hearing from UTEP, Northern Arizona, and Rice. Gray is ranked by NMPreps.com as one of the top running backs in New Mexico and is regarded as one of the top play makers in the Class of 2017.

Lastly, as you read on Sunday on NMPreps.com Alamogordo place kicker Brett Money won the underclassmen field goal competition in Oregon last week. Held on the field of Autzen Stadium, Money won the competition nailing a 40-yarder in front of the entire camp. Money will also be headed to the FBU Top Gun Academy in South Carolina in hopes of becoming the next 9th grade All-American. He was also selected to compete in the Kohl’s Kicking National Scholarship Invite which will be held in Wisconsin during July.

Forgot to add update on Cleveland Athlete Veto Virgin. Schools recruiting him:
Iowa State, University of South Florida, Utah State, Kansas, Harvard, Penn, North Carolina (Charlotte), Butler, Northern Arizona, Oxidental, Jamestown University, West Texas A&M, and for Track & Field ; University of Tennessee, Iowa State, Utah State, Arizona, Eastern New Mexico, Graceland University. Veto has been part of Championship teams in Football and Track in the 2015-2016 seasons and was a State Champion in the 300 Meter Hurdles, going undefeated the entire season.

Another Update to add

Onate Tight End James Martin attended both the U of A, UTEP, and NAU Camps. He won the tight end heat at the NAU Camp and is in contact with both the UTEP and NAU Coaches. He also received a handwritten letter from Brown's TE Coach Decker to attend their camp this summer.

Grine of NMPreps.com

Today, on NMPreps we take a look at the top receivers for the 2016 season. Several have stood out along with gaining attention from colleges.

m9GwEE1.jpg

More: Top 20 Running backs | Top 10 Tight Ends

Top Five

1. David Cormier, Sr, WR, Volcano Vista HS (Albuquerque, NM). Well-built as a wide receiver with the size and height he also explodes in the open field. Cormier, has had a solid summer showing at camps along with the passing league last week. The Volcano Vista Hawks will be much improved and a dark horse next season. Cormier caught for 770-yards last season along with reaching the end zone 7 times.

2. Gavin Swinson, Sr, WR, Mayfield HS (Las Cruces, NM). Swinson, plays for one of the top programs in the state, they have another QB coming in that will be able to hit him and set him up. He caught for 1,200-yards last season and will look to mimic those numbers this season.

3. Alex Ramirez, Sr, WR, Alamogordo HS (Alamogordo, NM). Ramirez, could be in store for an even bigger year as the Tigers will be a heavy favorite as he teams up with a Top QB in the state. Ramirez, caught for 805-yards with 12 touchdown last season.

4. Brandon Baeza, Jr, WR, Las Cruces HS (Las Cruces, NM). The WR for the Bulldawgs could be in-store for one huge year after a huge sophomore campaign. Baeza, had 80-receptions for 1,380-yards for 12-touchdowns.

5. Cason Clay, Sr, WR, Hobbs HS (Hobbs, NM). Clay, is one of two featured receivers on this list for the Hobbs Eagles, they'll be one of the better cores returning and could look to lead the state as a team in receiving yards. Clay caught for 543-yards with 6-touchdowns last season.

The Rest

6. Aaron Compton, Sr, WR, Hobbs HS (Hobbs, NM). It's unclear who will start at QB for the Eagles but he is assured to get enough balls thrown his way. Compton, will be a WR that flies under the radar to start with a talented returning Wide Receiving core next season. In four games he had 3-touchdowns.

7. Junior Pena, Sr, WR, Centennial HS (Las Cruces, NM)
8. Dylan DiLorenzo, Sr, WR, St. Pius X (Albuquerque, NM)
9. Cade Hackey, Sr, WR, Hatch Valley HS (Hatch, NM)
10. Jake Rogers, Sr, WR, Navajo Prep (Farmington, NM): Caught for 1,097-yards

On The Radar

11. Deshawn Lee, Sr, WR, Hope Christian (Abq, NM): Seen him this summer - Hope's best player.
