Game Details
No. 3 Eunice 8-3 @ No. 1 Estancia 12-0
Saturday, December 5th
Game Time: 1PM

Team Comparions
Eunice Head Coach: Ken Stevens
Eunice Team Record: 8-3
Estancia Head Coach: Stewart Burnett
Estancia Team Record: 12-0

Game Preview
The skinny is this: Estancia is trying to go back to back after winning the 2014 State Championship beating Clayton 14-6. This year’s Estancia Bear Team has been perfect all season long, a true juggernaut, the biggest favorite to win the State Championship out of all 8 teams playing this weekend. Eunice is no stranger to the big show, in-fact this is their 19th time playing for a football state championship, their last state title appearance was back in 2011 when they lost to Santa Rosa on the road 21-14.

1st Year Coach Takes Eunice To The Title

Any time a team let’s go of their head man after the season, there is always uncertainty on whether the head man coming in can go even .500 in year one. Ken Stevens who coached at Socorro during the mid 2000’s and more recently served as the offensive coordinator at Carlsbad has won 8 games in his first year and has the Cardinals winning 7-in a row after last weekend’s big home semifinal victory over Clayton 26-22. The Cardinals love to pound the rock and have racked up 2,900-yards and 32 touchdowns, Senior Blane Ferbrache has rushed for 1,276-yards and 11 touchdowns, Senior Aaron Madrid has rushed for 894-yards. On defense Aaron Madrid leads the team in tackles for 147 total take downs and watch for Kari and Tari York, twin brothers that have a combined 80 tackles as defensive backs.

Estancia Big Favorite To Stay King of the Hill

Rewind to last season when Estancia went 11-3 winning the 3A title beating Clayton 14-6, they scored 517 points on the year and allowed just 148 once the season was completed. This year, they have proved to be even better outscoring their first 12 opponents by a score for 585-93 under Head Coach Stewart Burnett who took over in 2012. They opened the season with a win at Lovington 32-27, then have dominated their opponents in every facet of the game holding 7 out of their 12 opponents to a touchdown or less. The Bears have ran for 4,062-yards and rushed fro 75 touchdowns this year if you can believe that. Senior Adam Lujan has 1,657-yards, Junior Ezekiel Tapia has rushed for 1,048-yards, and Sophomore Mosies Anaya has rushed for 920yards. On defense watch for 6-foot-4, 215 pound Caleb Ortiz who leads the team in tackles with 54, Ortiz currently has an offer from Eastern New Mexico.

Clovis Wildcats can you help????

https://www.facebook.com/melonygonzales.leal/posts/1054541474568211
Heartbreaking story of a young boy who tried committing suicide due to bullying at school at a Clovis middle school!
How many of New Mexico's High School football teams are ready to step up and help these young kiddos who are being bullied?
The Hobbs Eagles started Eagle Buddies last year, where these varsity football players go and have lunch with younger children who are being bullied! It's the easiest thing to start in every single community in our state. These children should never feel like this is their only option and knowing they have a friend they can talk to can change their whole lives!
Northern Alabama University football players even started this after they saw the Eagle Buddies program!
Please let me know if you are interested and I will get you all the forms you need to start this!

Fill in the blank

_____________ is the toughest district this season.

_____________ is better than Carlsbad and Albuquerque High.

Alamogordo and Manzano: ________ is a playoff team, _________ is not.

______________ wins district 2-5A.

Road To The PIT: It's December, So We Make Our Prediction

Road To The PIT: It's December, So We Make Our Prediction
Joshua J. Grine of NMPreps.com

The one thing I love about basketball season, sports in general, is we get to argue, maybe agree or sometimes never come to a common conclusion to who will win it all. 24 teams in each Big School Division classification and all 72 have title hopes.

Another great thing about December is we get to change our mind, 24 different times before March comes around. Likely, we will change our mind more each week. I start off today looking into my crystal ball (and not my bald head) to give my opinion on who wins it all.

DISTRICT RANKINGS, AUTO'S & AT-LARGE BIDS

District 1-6A: Cleveland (1-0) - If asked last week I would have had Rio Rancho in this slot. Cleveland seems to be fine without a Top-10 player, who is still playing football. Maybe, for this week they move up in our District Rankings.
2. Rio Rancho (0-1; At-Large), 3. Volcano Vista (1-0; At-Large), 4. Cibola (1-0; Bubble IN), 5. Santa Fe (0-1; Bubble OUT).

District 2-6A: Sandia (1-1) - This district could be a tricky one. I had a clear ranking last week, not so much today. Sandia still the favorite at this moment. La Cueva climbed into the Top-25 this week and maybe they are closer in this race than predicted this preseason.
2. La Cueva (1-0; At-Large), 3. Eldorado (0-1; Bubble IN), 4. Manzano (1-0; Bubble OUT), 5. Highland (0-1; Bubble OUT).

District 3-6A: Gadsden (4-2) - Not to sure if I have ever ranked them 1st in district 3-6A but hey it's March. Why not? The Panthers could have the District Player of the Year in Tomas Cano (Senior). I know, I know many of you have Onate here (I would too) but honestly this could become a tie breaker situation.
2. Onate (2-0; At-Large), 3. Las Cruces (0-2; Bubble IN), 4. Mayfield (1-2; Bubble OUT) 5. Deming (1-1; Bubble OUT)

District 4-6A: Carlsbad (0-0) - The number one ranked team in all of New Mexico. We had to pick them as the favorite, right?
2. Hobbs (2-0; At-Large), 3. Clovis (0-0; Bubble IN) 4. Alamogordo (2-1; Bubble OUT)

District 5-6A: Albuquerque (1-0) - The way that they opened the season sold me quick. The Bulldogs and Bulldog city might be the favorite to those of us not in green.
2. Rio Grande (1-0; At-Large) 3. Valley (0-1; At-Large) 4. West Mesa (1-0; Bubble OUT) 5. Atrisco Heritage Academy (0-1; Bubble OUT)

THE FIELD - SEED

1. Carlsbad (DC)
2. Albuquerque (DC)
