There was plenty of talent in Las Cruces this past weekend at the New Mexico State Camp. Two prospects pulled in D-1 offers from the Aggies on Friday. The Aggies offered Los Lunas Running Back O'Maury Samules and Clovis Tight End Roland Chavez. Samuels is a 5-foot-11, 185 pound running back out of the Class of 2017 (incoming junior) that ran a 4.4 40-time, 35 inch vertical, and a 10-foot-4 inch broad jump. Chavez is a 6-foot-4, 210 pound tight end that now holds offers from New Mexico State, Northern Arizona, Eastern New Mexico, and NMMI. Full list of weekend standouts and top performers here

Alamogordo's Julian Segura Shines at Aggie Camp

Mayfield Quarterback Joeray Valencia had just thrown a 40-yard touchdown pass to Running Back Isaac Vance to put the Trojans up by one score against Alamogordo in a back and fourth 7-on-7 shootout.

Junior Alamogordo Quarterback Kyle Hooper had already thrown three scores in the game and made some big throws in the final drive to put the Tigers in scoring position at the 5-yard line. Hooper then threw a floating fade to 6-foot-2, 190 pound receiver Julian Segura and it seemed as timed stood still…

NMSU Football Camp Standouts

By NCAA Rules media is not allowed to interview players on campus. These pictures were taken out of the Stadium. The public/media is allowed to watch the camp. Here are some standouts I saw today at New Mexico State's Football Camp.

O'Maury Samules - Los Lunas - Running Back - Class of 2017
5-foot-11, 185 pound running back that ran a 4.40 40-time, 10-foot-4 broad jump, and a 35 inch vertical. Aggies offered him after the event. Told us that Western New Mexico and Northern Arizona have contacted him. I think he's about to blow up on the recruiting scene.
1697395.jpg

Rolando Chavez - Clovis - Tight End - Class of 2016
6-foot-4, 210 pound tight end that looked super athletic during position drills. New Mexico State offered him after the camp. Now holds offers from New Mexico State, Eastern New Mexico, and NMMI.
1697400.jpg

Kameron Miller - Las Cruces - Quarterback - Class of 2016
Continues to impress each time we see him. New Mexico State has already offered him and we hear New Mexico could be next. Just got done camping at Texas Tech and San Diego State. Puts the ball on the money.
1697402.jpg

Ramsey Rigby - Elba, Alabama
6-foot-0, 197 pound QB that holds an offer from Troy. Threw for 2,496-yards and 32 touchdowns last year leading Elba to a 14-1 record.
1697397.jpg

Justin Houghtaling - Artesia - Quarterback - Class of 2016
Houghtaling seems to be even taller than the last time we saw him. I was told he is 6-foot-6. Has a big arm and displayed nice touch. Still looking for offer number one.
1697401.jpg

Forrest McKee - Onate - Linebacker - Class of 2017
Another big time New Mexico Class of 2017 prospect to keep tabs on. He told me his current weight is 220 pounds. Did not play varsity last year as he had to sit out from transferring to Las Cruces. Athletic enough to play quarterback or fullback.
1697398.jpg

Josh Williams - Volcano Vista - Quarterback - Class of 2016
As mentioned in our Volcano Vista team preview, he is a polished three year starter. Well spoken, does things right, good mechanics.
1697403.jpg

James Martin - Onate - Defensive Linemen - Class of 2017
Martin had 11 sacks last year as just a sophomore at Onate. Good looking prospect with good size (Do not have updated height and weight)
1697399.jpg

Kyle Hooper - Alamogordo - Quarterback - Class of 2017
I was interested to see how Hooper had improved from last year and he's even better. Put the ball on a rope and looked athletic on the field. Will only be a junior.
1697407.jpg

Isaac Vance - Mayfield - Running Back - Class of 2017
Yet another big time prospect from the Class of 2017. Had the best footwork out of any of the running backs on the day. Had a big year at Mayfield as a sophomore in 2014.
1697408.jpg

Tucker Dobbs - Clovis Receiver - Class of 2016
Kid makes the impossible catch look easy. Runs good routes and can make a defender stumble with his breaks. Should have a big year.
1697409.jpg

Caleb Ortiz - Estancia - Defensive Linemen - Class of 2016
6-foot-4, 230 pound Caleb Ortiz out of Estancia looks like a grown man. He might be just a junior I am not sure. Could also see time at fullback.

Thoughts on prep schools?

Programs like Elev8 sports Institute. I know three or four NM kids have benefited from the Florida based prep school.

Adonis Saltes (Valley) spent a year then signed with Southern Utah.
TJ Holyfield (Manzano) spent a year then signed with S.F Austin
Zach Lee (Eldorado) spent a year and just finished freshman season at Tennessee State.
I thought Warren from Manzano went but not to sure.

What are your thoughts on these programs/schools? Would a school like that work in NM?
